    Primary vs. Secondary Circulating Pump

Is there any intrinsic difference between a primary and Secondary Circulating Pump? Can you use a secondary pump such as "Wilo SB30 Secondary Circulating Pump" as your primary pump?

Can this back boiler work on its own.

Yes the bbu is condensation and as such does not need to be an exception, it could just be fitted. They have replaced the hideous gas front with a slightly less hideous electric one. It does have the advantage of not needing air intake from the room. I am also fairly sure there is no...

Can this back boiler work on its own.

Yep, you are right. I am kicking the pointer for that! In their defence they did point out that control operates the boiler remotely and is attached to the firefront spacer frame. When commission the boiler the control is connect directly to the boiler. It does seem dumb that the control...

Can this back boiler work on its own.

Another option has been pointed out to me. The boiler can be replaced with a similar one that does not require a gas fire front - A conventional back boiler that comes with an electric firefront may do the job as the electric fire is an optional add on. BTW this is not what certain companies...

    Central Heating Programmers keep breaking

Hi All, A big thanks to everyone who helped. Problem was on the automated valves. You can see on the pictures; one of them was corroded, this was caused by a minuscule leak. the other had plastic failure, the posts which held the return springs have bot broken off so the valve was...

    Central Heating Programmers keep breaking

If this is the case, could it be causing the programmer to fail? And then why did it work as normal for a few months after the programmer was replaced?

    Gas Boiler and ventilation

I was simplifying it by saying trickle vents. There is a sash and case window, which is pretty leaky already. On the inside and outside of the case is a shielded opening (to prevent rain). This is 'permanently open.' The flue is only 'on show' if you squint down inside original...

    Central Heating Programmers keep breaking

I have an old floor standing gas boiler CH system with hot water storage tank. This has worked just fine for few years. The only things needing replaced were the HW/CH valves that control the water flow. Problem The control unit Horstmann Centaurplus C27 Heating Programmer broke...

    Universal Lintel

Well the U stands for universal and I believe the 2 indicate the lintel can go two ways up. There are not many good picture of these on the web however they have two re-bars. In the middle of the shorter dimension and equal distance about 1/4 in form each end in the longer dimension...

    Universal Lintel

I know that U2 lintels can be used as (100x145mm) or (145x100mm). Either side up, however is there still a top and bottom for each way? Or can they be placed in any of four orientations?

    Replacing internal wooden lintel

The cornicing has been taken down in sections. The old lath has been stripped from it and the old plaster, which it was embedded in has been sanded. Not it is being painted with an anti-fungicide. The removal operation was quite successful, unfortunately this was the worst damaged section...

    Replacing internal wooden lintel

Thanks, The coving is pretty good and in reasonable condition for 100 years old. There are a few bumps on it and I just cant imagine how you go about damaging coving in a room that has a 10 foot high ceiling. The new lintel will be completely internal and not be visible at all.
