    Water Transfer Pump Questions

Thanks nozzle. The problem that I have is that the water is currently blocked due to concrete and is standing outside next to the property foundations. So should I: Setup a pump which directly pumps out the water from the outside OR Drill some weep holes in the foundation stone's mortar to...

    Water Transfer Pump Questions

Thanks woody. Being honest, I don't think there is any way of creating a land drain (unless you have any ideas??). All the ground is clay and the more deeper the ground, the more blue solid clay appears and the water just sits there for many days, until the next rain. Hence my original post...

    Water Transfer Pump Questions

Bernard, because currently the vast majority of rain water is simply standing in the trench next to the foundations and not going anywhere, with only some leaking into the basement.

    Water Transfer Pump Questions

Sorry bernard, I've ended up editing my post as I wanted to add a picture and some more info to it, but you've posted your reply beforehand. I actually do have an idea of the amount of water that is collecting. During heavy rain the water is filling a space of approx 1.5mtrs length, 1ft foot...

    Water Transfer Pump Questions

Here is the idea I had: Water extraction idea by amigo posted 31 Dec 2017 at 10:56 AMThanks very much bernard. But your suggestion of having a sump pump inside sounds more plausible and sensible to me. Because my idea means that if in the future there was a problem such as a blockage, I'd...

Is there a plasterboard for outside walls?

My apologies john I most certainly did miss your post. My goodness the plasterboard is way too expensive, because I'd need around 40 square metres of plasterboard to cover it and that would be a whopping cost of approx £700. I'll still need to render over the plasterboard too.

Is there a plasterboard for outside walls?

The stone wall is in pretty bad condition to be honest, hence my reason to cover it up. I'm just looking for a cheap solution and waa hoping there might be a special plasterboard for outside walls.

Is there a plasterboard for outside walls?

Hi everyone, I'm currently getting the garden sorted. One of the problems I have is that one of the garden walls is bottom half stone and top half breeze blocks As you can imagine, the top breeze blocks half is pretty straight, whereas the bottom stone half is sticking out in many areas...

    Airvents and blocking them up

I think your spot-on with regarding to air coming through the bay-window, because I can feel it through the wooden sill. I'm sure there is no way of accessing this without either taking brickwork out or ripping up the sill to fill the cavity.

    Airvents and blocking them up

Your right....I now remember when one of the vents was taken out a while ago, it was totally sealed around it. So now I'm left in a bit of a pickle, because all this time I thought that air is escaping from the gaps in the vent/cavity and cooling parts of the wall down, so what could it be...

    Airvents and blocking them up

Thanks JohnD. Actually to be honest, the floor isn't that cold as it's fully carpeted in every room. The only exception is the hallway which is directly above the cellar. I plan to insulation the cellar ceiling with rock wool to counter this draught. However wherever these vents are located...
