Thanks for the replies. My chap says I must have TRV's - but surley not on a single pipe?! I'm thinking of replacing some rads to get a better amount of heat out in a few of the cooler rooms.

New boiler to a single pipe system?

Are their any implications to replacing my existing Kingfisher RS80 boiler with a condensing one, using my existing single pipe CH system? The house has 3 floors - Each floor seems to have a seperate single pipe loop. ie. If I turn off a rad on a any floor then all the rads on that floor go...

Combi in a 2/3 bathroom house?

mickyg - But if the store is cold will it initially start off at 12l/min? And is that bypassing the store completly? Had the flow and pressure tested today - its very good. Pressure was over 5bar ... and with a cold mains tap on full it only dropped to 2.2 bar ...

Combi in a 2/3 bathroom house?

Thanks muggles ... clears it up. I've been quoted £4000+vat to supply and fit a Glowworm Ultrapower 170. Does that sound about right? I see the boilers are about £1400+vat so they are charging £2600+vat for fitting. Thats to site it where the current Kingfisher RS80 is in the...

Combi in a 2/3 bathroom house?

Tony - No I or any of the two installers I have had around have measured the dynamic flow rate ... Although my neighbours have a megaflow and the pressure is good for them, and I used to live houses away with a combi ....

Combi in a 2/3 bathroom house?

I'm edging towards getting a Worcester Bosch Highflow 550CDi. I've had combi's before in smaller houses and like the 'on tap' principle of hot water ... Search around it seems the Highflow boilers will work well with 2 bathrooms and have ample for the CH.

Combi in a 2/3 bathroom house?

Thanks muggles - So potentially if the house has been empty for a few days, I would have to run off 170lt of cold water before seeing hot appear out of the taps? Or is the feed off from the tank near the hot fill feed? It seems a good system for a house that has a lot people living in it, to...

Combi in a 2/3 bathroom house?

I'm a bit confused Re. the Glowworm Ultrapower boilers .... If the water is OFF and the built in cylinder cold - does it work as a combi? Does it recharge the cylinder when the water water is ON via a coil or via a combi outlet into it?

Combi in a 2/3 bathroom house?

Thanks for the replies ... your putting me off going down the Combi route! A local plumbing firm recomended a Glowwork System boiler, where an unvented cylinder is built in with very quick heat up times, and has a combi backup ....... on paper it looks sensible ... they claim to have fitted...

Combi in a 2/3 bathroom house?

I'm considering changing my Kingfisher2 RS80 boiler and was thinking about a combi. I had a Combi in my last house but found running more than one hot tap reduced the flow considerably ... My friends have just had a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 42CDi fitted...

    ANyone tried a screwfix kitchen?

Thanks for the update mini26, all sounds very good. You have eliminated any doubt I had over purchasing from Screwfix without being able to even see a sample .... The Screwfix units are roughly the same price as B+Q IT flat pack, but you get pre-assembled and soft close, and colur matched...

    ANyone tried a screwfix kitchen?

mini26 - How did your screwfix kitchen turn out? Were you pleased with the build quality of the units? Any delamination on doors adjoining the oven? I have been looking at Screwfix pre-assembled cream gloss ... they look very good value 'on paper', but its a shame their is no way of...

    choosing a water softner

I put a softner in my last house at the same time had a combi boiler fitted. When I moved I fitted one on day 1 in my new house - Once you have had one you will never live in a house without one again!

Water Softner with Megaflow type cylinders?

If I had my cylinder changed to a megaflow pressurized one, using a 22mm mains feed to it, can I still use my water softner which works on 15mm? I presume this is a common problem - are their water softners that work on 22mm?

New Boiler = Must put TRV's on all rads?

Thanks for the replies, and clearing that up ... TRV's always seem problematic jamming shut etc. The system as it is seems well balanced, but I might replace the older 70's rads with more modern ones in which case I suppose it would be worth fitting TRV's ... I will speak to my plumber!!

New Boiler = Must put TRV's on all rads?

It seems a lot of extra work and expense, I can understand on a new system.

Worcester, Vaillant or Glow Worm System Boiler- Help!

Had a Bosh CD24i combi in my last house - gave a faultless service for 8+ years ... although was using a water softner, so no combi / hard water problems. I'm thinking of having my Kingfisher 2 replaced in my current house and am also considering my options ...

New Boiler = Must put TRV's on all rads?

Is my plumber correct in saying that if he replaces my boiler, the regs say he must fit TRV's on all my rads? Is this also true for adding a new radiator to a system?
