I mean the gate valves, again where is the cold feed an vent??? if not directly on the boiler then by isolating all those gate valves and running the boiler will result in a bang as nowhere for expansion, we still have only half the picture, to get to the bottom of your problems we need to...

Something to be careful of.... do not run your boiler with all those gate valves turned off....... boom!!

As said before we need some pictures to sus whats been done right/wrong, boiler, airing cupboard, wiring etc............... You said you fitted a zone valve on the boiler flow - is this directly off the boiler??? does your h/w zone valve tee off before or after this valve on the flow...

'isolated the vent pipe' what ever you do do not cap off the vent pipe!! you shoulnt have anything come out of the vent pipe off the h/w cylinder anyway regardless of split coils and heights of tanks,

If you h/w cylinder coil has gone then your f&e tank would overflow - not lose water, you did say both tanks are on the same level base didnt you??? so the cws water level will be the higher. I wouldnt think its the coil personally.

You can i think still get replacment seals for the oil rams

If you are loosing pressure its not the hot water exchanger as this would increase pressure, prv letting by???? check to see if discharge pipe is wet outside, if you are sure there are no leaks on the system then it must be the boiler. you can run the boiler for dhw with the heating circuit...

Has your f&e tank got a lid?? if youve left the cold main to the tank off you could be loosing a bit through evaporation, especially if theres a problem with pumping over the vent as the water will be hot.... just a thought,

Is there a vent on the new soil pipe up in the attic?? sound like when you are draining your bath is creating a vacume in the soil pipe pulling out the water in the toilet u bend,

If your coil has gone in your cylinder the lower of the tanks will overflow, normally the f&e tank is lower so a cracked coil will result in the f&e tank to overflow, have you got any under floor pipework???

cant really see a problem, if you say everything is getting hot and boiler is shutting down on boiler stat thats norm, i take it you dont mean overheat stat - are you having to press the reset to get the boiler on again???

In order to get 230v on the orange wire when valve opens you must have 230v on the grey wire (either from h/w off on clock or cyl stat satisfied)

Do you know if the flats used to have communal heating??? could be the old primarys of a fortic / elson tank,

Hi, i take it when you have checked the vessell pressure there was no system pressure and the prv was open?? also check the braided line to the vessell is not kinked.

The shower i will be fitting will be a reasonably cheap (£100ish) bar mixer with a 3 pattern head, i had planned on fitting a watermill 3 bar pump an now 22mm pipe work right through. The only thing im not sure about is the size/location of the header tank.
