It should be quite a simple job mate.Best thing to do is remove you old letter box, this would normally be done by removing a few screws from the inside.You could put a bit of paper temporarily taped over the hole it leaves to keep out drafts. Take your old box with you when you go to buy a new...

if your running skirting right up to your pipes which are at floor level then simply fill the hole with a little expandable foam and you will have to box your skirting around your pipes anyway. This should conceal the hole depending on your skirting board height..... hope this helps mate.

Thanks for the replys fellas.......what i was hoping to do was to take power from the back of a new socket fitted in the new conservatory. So straight out the back of the socket to the outside wall then run lights into the garden from there. Does this sound very dangerous?.....perhaps ill speak...

Hi im wanting to eventually install some outside lighting in the garden but due to extending my home installing them now would be a luxury. So I will have to install them at a later date. If i wanted to install lights in the garden in the future can they simply be linked up to the house mains...

Hi was it just a skim or fully plastered? if its just a skim then you should be fine after 48hrs+.....if its full plaster then you will have to wait. Other wise you could get all sorts of problems at a later date. Cheers.[/url]

Hi steve the way ive done it in the past is to cut the profile from the skirting as you have said. Best to get a coping saw which will make it very easy to get the shape cut right. It will also need to be held firm in a vice/ work bench. Just fill in any small gaps with wood filler. I and smooth...

could always add in a few air bricks either side of the new extension walls if possible? but I dont actually think you will need them because it links up with a new extension and will now be an internal not external if that makes sense. Hi Ian As it happens ive just done a very similar change to my outside soil stack for a home extension with a new bathroom. To save on work for you and some money as well, there may be no need to remove the existing stack connection to your current bathroom and loo. Seems like your making work...
