Extending Socket In Kitchen To Outdoors

Hi all, have no intention of doing this myself but want to know if what I am asking an electrician to do is possible. We have a plug socket in lower cabinet in the kitchen which feeds the dishwasher/washing machine; it is located on the external wall. Can an electrician extend that socket to an...

Waste water from shower and basin

We put coloured dye in the rain water hopper and watched it pass through the same drain intersection that the foul pipe feeds into so we know the front and rear drains meet at some point and run into the same sewer.

Waste water from shower and basin

Looking at putting a shower and basin into a small ensuite / vanity (no toilet) but the easiest route for waste water would be out the front of the 1902 built property in general rain water drainage - is this permissable? It is not effluent or hazardous and the property only has a single drain...

Thinner Shotgun Coax For Sky Q - Need Compression F Plugs

Hi all Recently ran an extenstion cable for a friend and realised the cable provided was the thinner shotgun coax cable which as it turned out was fine as I was able to get some F plug connectors from Screwfix however I do prefer to use the compression F plugs that I have used for all my own...

Central Heating - replacing one modern rad with two cast iron

Hi All Room revamp and I am required to take out a functional modern double radiator and put two cast iron reclamation 'old skool' rads more as decoration compared to a heat source (but we will see). We have a newly installed woodburner in the room as the main heating source. Rads have been...

Spraying with Johnstone's smooth metal print

Thanks oops for the reply Johnstones have been particularly unhelpful both over the phone and email. First email I had simply said 'no, brush application only'. When I called them to query, the person actually disputed that they did the paint I was describing even when I said I was reading...

Spraying with Johnstone's smooth metal print

Afternoon all Looking to spray two cast-iron radiators; Hammerite have said their 'direct to rust' range can be thinned by 10-20% with no issue however their colour range is limited. Johnstones have a wider colour palate in their smooth metal range (similar that it can be applied direct to...

    Grey undercoat for whites????

Went into a reputable store today (not DIY chain) and was talking about a large box bay window that I need to paint and I was told that grey undercoat is the way to go even though I am looking at a light / white top coat. I thought grey undercoat was only for mid and dark colours. Happy to go...

    Manual for CLM1000RTa / Router/Saw/Jigsaw Table

Sadly not. I found neither GMC or B&Q wanting to engage in providing a manual and all the literature I found at the time online to be incomplete or unhelpful. By all means drop me a PM if you have any specific questions that I may be able to help on.

What coax does Virgin Media use to deliver their services?

Morning All Our external VM box has taken a bashing, not sure how but it is in the most stupid of places and at the right height to get kicked and knocked by anything passing. I was looking to cut the current F-type plug off and compress a new one on there (I have all the toolage and...

Breathable membrane with insulation - does it exist??

Hi all, Pretty much as per the subject line.... I am gutting the cellar and will be battoning the walls and covering with OSB to make it fresher. No sign of damp anywhere but just by the nature of the room it does get chilly down there so am looking to insulate where possible. Is it possible...

Logik L612WM13 - Washing Machine Drum Bearing

Hi All I have the above washing machine and it is obvious that the drum bearing needs replacing. Am happy to try and do this myself cause the machine owes me nothing and if it is unsuccessful then at least I will have it in bits to take to the tip!!! The problem I have is that the likes of...

    Floor Void Insulation

Yes once the cables are tidy then I will insulate and reinstate the ceiling - better than the hardboard currently in place. Thanks for the suggestion

    Floor Void Insulation

There is a measured benefit to 50mm of Rockwool insulation even by their own standards. My initial idea of insulation was not focused on creating a sound barrier but more of a thermal one. In that case then it cannot be a waste of effort, just which is more effective.

    Floor Void Insulation

That's quite interesting especially the lengths that he went to previously only to turn round and confess it was a waste of time. Although I dont think he specified, it looks like 100mm being used in the video which could work out quite expensive so the 50mm pack may be an option. Something is...
