Is renovating an old cast iron radiator a DIY job?

Greetings and salutations to all One room in our 1902 house is being ripped back to the floorboards and the paster with a view of redecorating back in a Victorian style (or at least themed - we will be obviously need to allow for electrical sockets etc) however one thing I hate is the modern...

    Trimming skirting whilst in situ

The tiles are original Victorian dating back to when the house was built in 1902. The pattern is specific and we wish to preserve their originality.

Once the tile is lifted then we will be using a self leveling latex which we anticipate will add approx 5-10mm and as the tile is currently tight to the skirting then there will be no room to insert it back under the skirting.

    Trimming skirting whilst in situ

Nice one, thanks. A number of options I didnt even knew existed!!! I have a biscuit joiner but feel that could be long winded. My local hire shop doesnt appear to stock a jamb or undercut saw but now know what to go in search for!

Is there a 'better' way to take up to 10mm off skirting boards without taking them off the wall? Going to have to relevel a floor but don't really want to take all the boards off and risk the plaster on the walls TIA Ian

    Suitable Timber for External Doors

In our local area there are a few well respected timber merchants recommended by trade and the more common DIY'er. I have bought timber from them before and they seem very helpful

    Suitable Timber for External Doors

Thanks for the pointer. It's my plan to get the timber from a merchant that can square and plane it for me.

    Suitable Timber for External Doors

Appreciate the reply and the suggestions. I have fed these back to the timber merchant to see if they can compare pricing. Cheers

    Suitable Timber for External Doors

I am going to have a punt at making an external door. I think I have got the design and layout sorted. I've calculated dimensions etc however I am stuck on what timber to use. Ideally I would have liked to use white oak however the cost involved concerns me as this is my first attempt then at...

    Installing DAB Adapter

These are from the suppliers stock imagery but shows the power socket on the back of the unit. It is only a small dash mounted head unit

    Installing DAB Adapter

Would you wire the necessary plug to this or would you solder direct into the dab adapter? I am wondering if the pin out for the micro usb might be a pain and then you also have to fuse protect it. What's your view on those piggy back fuse carriers you can get?

    Installing DAB Adapter

The power requirements are 5V DC and they provide a cable yet this hogs the only power socket in the car. If there any reason it can't be run from a USB cable as per the satnav?
