    Shower solution for pensioner

I suppose we could put a larger shower tray in and make that the full floor plan of the boxed area. Does that constitute a wet room once the walls are tiled?

    Shower solution for pensioner

Hi all My father is 81 years of age and although can handle the over bath shower at the moment, I think a standard shower will be advisable in coming months. We were looking at putting a shower cubicle in his bedroom but at the moment dont have the ability of putting a full en-suite...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

Hi bernardgreen Thanks for the comments. I have spoken to the electrician and a single continuous length of conduit from the kitchen consumer unit to the device socket / switch will ensure there should be no external fluids or interference (unless or course it is broken for some reason)...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

Thanks Chri5 That is excellent. I am keen to protect the cable and it was mentioned by the electrician that putting it in some protection was beneficial. Fortunately we are rodent free and the space is clean, dry and tidy. The tiled floor of the kitchen extends under the cupboards so this...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and no doubt you are the sort of person who has immense self-belief and discount those considerations of others. I trust my electrician however I ask questions to increase my own personal knowledge. I would hazard a guess that those that have replied...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

Well unless he is a complete charlatan and has falsified the trade details on his vehicle and also his paperwork to me then he is going to great lengths to appear legit. I have also spoken to the trade counter at the supplier that he uses and they have a high opinion of him as well. So as far...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

That statement says they are "RESPONSIBLE" for the Design etc, it doesnt say that have to be the source or origin. It also is a declaration that they certify the work. There is nothing that says that certain parts of the work cannot be completed by another party but need to be checked prior to...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

Okay, photos to follow As for the documentation that you have insisted on then I cannot provide all that. I know the electrician is registered and I have receipts for his work. I am sure he would not jeopardise his business and livelihood by completing work which is illegal and not upto spec...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

Thanks, that's very helpful. We were able to pull a cable from the cellar through to the kitchen going via the stairs landing and through to the bedroom above kitchen but lifting the furniture, carpet and boards to the extent of reaching the other side of the room is not possible and also...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

And for me to make that proposal I need an idea of what is the best course of action. I have asked him but he is one man so doesn't it make sense to ask a group of people to get different options? Clearly the first reply was helpful but those since including your own has really added no...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

And you have assumed that I am - thanks. Absolutely nothing that I am proposing to do is illegal nor contravenes Part P, building regs or electrical safety. I have complete faith in my electrician to know that the work he signs off is legit. The role I play in preparing the job is...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

I don't doubt for a moment that the electrician has the skills, in fact I know he has however the difference between me doing the labour is reduced time for him onside, a lower bill and the likelihood of him fitting a shorter job into a busy schedule at a time which is convenient for me...

Pulling new circuits in a fitted kitchen

Appreciate the comments. Would like to get it in something even if it is conduit that isnt secured but pushed up against the wall Have used rigid 20mm push fit conduit before when running cables and I would guess this has to be better than nothing as I should be able to push to as far as the...

    Cable for double electric oven

Thanks riveralt, Yep, I have text my sparky to tell him what I am doing but he is yet to reply. I have not started any work on pulling this cable and will not until he gets back to me. I just appreciate the extra bit of knowledge to ensure I am aware of what is needed The CU was put in...

    Cable for double electric oven

JohnW2 is correct. The CU has been installed (as a different project) and my enquiry regarding the circuit for the oven is to provision a new circuit and not to replace an existing one.
