Which thing uses about 30watts, the fan or the pump?

30 watts sounds about right for the fan. We have a Vaillant 35kW c ombi and when running consumes approx 150W. Fan should only run when the boiler is on and then after for a while when it's gone off to cool the heat exchangers etc.

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

The WC is on our middle floor which is unoccupied and the rad has been taken off for the refurbishment. Temps were probably around 10C to 12C. That's what I said to him about the PVA as it's just a small loo. Ah, so when you said comb the wall you meant applied the adhesive than trowelling it...

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

Just had a chat with Weber Technical and there probable conclusion was the adhesive not drying out due to temperature. Apparently the 5C on their instructions is for frost purposes and that there stated drying times are based on 20C. He advised buttering both the wall and the tile to get better...

    Drayton Wiser efficiency.

Have been thinking about smart control for a couple of years now but with 16 radiators the cost is fairly considerable. One question I have about the system is; if just one of the TRV's is calling for heat is this going to be very inefficient, especially if the boiler is cold.

    Condensation

Thinking about it, it was foggy last week when I had the condensation problem, but cleared on the Friday.

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

OK, started going round to see how many tiles were actually loose by a gentle tap with a rubber handled scraper. The majority gave a fairly solid bump and others gave the hollow sound. So took those off, but came to one tile and it was solid one end but hollow at the other. It was difficult to...

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

I should have said that when I set the tiles on they really grabbed and it was difficult at times to wiggle them into position. I had to remove a couple as I’d tapped them slightly low and I thought I was going to break the tile trying to lever it off. I just wish there was an explanation as to...

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

Unfortunately I'm under time pressure as we have some friends coming to stay in a couple of days so need the WC working. I've gone round all the tiles tapping and prying with my finger nail and have found no further loose. The areas where the tiles have come off does fell damp so maybe the...

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

Two walls were re plastered with hardwall and a skim of one coat then PVA’d the third wall was old render which I tiled over 30 years ago. Are they coming off because the adhesive has not dried out? So should I leave longer before grouting.

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

What is the difference between SBR and PVA? Do you think I need to remove all the other tiles and re-do? Should I put some heat in there to dry and aid drying? Can anyone say why the adhesive has stuck to the tile and not the wall and vice-versa?

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

Ok, now I’ve got PVA’d the walls what do I do now? Just leave longer to dry? You say the tiles haven’t been set enough, but it I wiggled them on and tapped with the end of a wooden hammer and they wouldn’t have compressed anymore.

    Newly fitted tiles falling off!!!

I've just finished tiling a small upstairs loo. Yesterday I heard a bang and one of my first tiles I fitted had fallen off. When looking at it as it was in a difficult location under the soil pipe it was not fully bedded. I then buttered the wall with a little skim of adhesive and then put a...

    Condensation

I don't know if anyone else experienced it, but yesterday our house suffered from a huge amount of condensation. The north facing double glazed windows were running even the uPVC frames and the wood frames were covered and the walls and ceiling in our en-suite was dripping even though the...

What to set a WC pan on?

There should only be a small from the pan to the wall, so a bead of silicone will cover that fine.

What to set a WC pan on?

That’s what my thoughts were, thanks. The floor is flat and level but the wall is not vertical.

What to set a WC pan on?

I'm completing refurbishing our upstairs toilet. I've laid Karndean composite click flooring and about to fit the toilet back in but wondering what to set the pan on if anything. The WC is a close couple back to the wall unit and when I push the pan in and against the wall and there is a gap to...

What's making my Combi make a strange noise?

Yes, it’s a Vaillant EcoPlus. So any idea why there is an air sounding noise on HW and not on CH?

What's making my Combi make a strange noise?

Having done some more reading on Google, is it the AAV that needs bleeding. I also see there is a program P.0 which can be used after filling the system. Should the AVV knob be opened or closed? When I did the flush through I discovered water had dripped out of the boiler on investigation I...

What's making my Combi make a strange noise?

Drained system down and flushed it through a couple of weeks ago to replace the cleaner with inhibitor. Filled back up and bleed the system and everything was fine. But I've noticed recently that when hot water is on the boiler sounds like it has air in it as it swirls and gurgles faintly. On CH...

Best way to fill slow spots

Should add, don't take too long applying as Bonding is for low suction backgrounds so putting it on top of the existing Bonding coat will dry out very quick. I keep a spray bottle handy if it does start to pull up.
