Possible low burner pressure, you need an engineer as these valves do get out of calibration. There was a Vaillant excersise on valve replacement quite some years ago but only done on open flues as i remember. You need a guy who is aware how to set these valves. Or as i get alot in my district...

To be quite frank ,yes a very good boiler in it's DAY. So was the Ford Sierra a great car in it's day, get my drift. Also if it is a balanced flue you can bet the flue seal has failed on it by now,,,,not good.

Expansion vessel pressure should be checked depressurized and only be usually as rule of thumb 0.7/0.9 bar. As previous thread said vessel could be ok but supply tube to it could be blocked, all be it rare but very much worth checking.

Plastic knob on plastic spindle. Notorious for just spinning on the spindle. Knob should have flat edge to marry up with flat edge on spindle, bet the spindle is rounded off in which case a pair of pliers for now to turn off filling loop, ultimately you need a new filling loop kit.

British Gas offer good training and salary packages with perks, but they expect alot. You are measured on everything and if you dont perform then you are dragged into a whole world of hell. It is very stressfull at B/G these days but if you like stress then great.
