    Cracks in Bay window wall

Thanks Chappers. The cracks do not appear to get any worse than this, they just reappear no matter what we do. In terms of bay falling away, presumably I would see something on outside of house ?. Any ideas on best way to decorate as they obviously don't look that great.

    Cracks in Bay window wall

Nothing at all oustside at the bottom bay, walls look in perfect condition. If anything on the outside upstairs then it is hairline and is through the tiles as the wall looks fine, but I can't see from ground level. The cracks run from the window sill straight down to the skirting where the...

    Cracks in Bay window wall

Hi Guys. We live in a 1930's mid terrace house with curved bay windows both upstairs and down and the front. Ever since we moved in (2 years ago) we have had cracks in all of the corners where the curve of the bay joins the rest of the house. They do not seem to be getting any worse and...

    Filling Loop

Hi guys. I have a rad in my spare room which is red hot at the top but luke warm at the bottom - does this need bleeding ?. If so, I have seem many references to a filling loop in order to bring pressure back after bleeding a rad, but can find no reference as to how to do this (ie where do...

Boiler Gets Hot - switches off then won't relight

Sounds similar to problem I had. Does heating and water come on at same time with the timer ?. If so, my problem was a stuck valve. The boiler cam on to heat water and rads, but when water was at temp boiler would turn off as valve got stuck and would not recognise need that heat was still...

    Childrens Trust Fund

£250 per child born after 1 Sept 02 (Think that's the right date). Trying to decide whether worth the risk investing in stocks or keep it safe(ish) in B/Society. Want to do my best for the little mite.

    memory Upgrade

    1) RAM I currently have 512 mb DDR DIMM ram and am looking to add to. Can I simply buy some more and put in the spare slot. If so, do I have to buy another 512 to balance the system or can I buy 1024. If I do this do I have to amend the RAM already in there. 2) Hard Drive I currently...

    Painitng Pebble Dash

I was thinking on painting the outside of the front of our 1930's mid terrace house this year to give it a bit of a freshen up. The only problem is, it is pebble dashed, so it will not be a quick process. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to do this or is it simply work the brush...

    Heating problem

Had plumber back out this morning. Turns out that the original diverter valve we had replaced earlier this year was a copy of a Honeywell and not an original. Apparantely the motors in these are not as powerful and the problem we were having is that the motor was not turning enough to flip the...

    Heating problem

Thanks Mandate. The plumber is coming out again tomorrow and bringing a multimeter with him to try and track this fault so hopefully we will resolve the matter once and for all. You say the micro switch is difficult to replace/repair - does this go for people that know what they are doing...

    Heating problem

Had the bioler installer out last week and he said boiler looked ok (only 7 mnths old) but advised me to, next time it wasn't working, put an electricians screwdriver on the 'Switched Live' wire to see if there was power. If lighted up means boiler issue if not, external issue. Tried this and...

    Heating problem

As an update for you on this, we have had the programmer changed as thought this was the most likely cause but no luck. Still having problem. Plumber is coming round monday to have a look at PCB and Room Therm, as he says that these are the only things left he can replace. Reminder of...
