    Petrol mower 'blowing'

Not sure this is the right forum but wondering if anyone can tell me what the problem with my petrol lawnmower is from the video posted. It's been like this since I got it so I figured it was normal but my neighbour has a similar one that runs smoothly. It works fine and has never cut out but...

    Magic eye issues

Bit long winded this but bear with me.... .....Mother has a sky box in a kitchen cupboard otherside of wall from main lounge tv. Feed to this tv is via HDMI with coax feeding a magic eye to change channels etc The coax from the aerial comes into this sky box and another goes out to a booster in...

    Oven wiring

Just looked at the screenshots I posted and you are right. The paper manual that came with it states 15a min, 20a max though

    Oven wiring

So I could change the cooker isolation plate behind the oven for an fcu or should I change the 45a cooker switch for the fcu?

    Oven wiring

Was asked yesterday by a family member to help them install a new oven. It is a Neue SFO1SS which I believe is a Benchmarx exclusive. Anyway old oven is fed from a 32a MCB to a 45a cooker switch in what looks like 6mm cable. Having read the manual on the new oven it states it has to be fed...

    Strange (to me) RCD trip

OK that's good to know. Thanks for taking the time to reply

    Strange (to me) RCD trip

But wouldn't that have tripped the rcd before the hoover was plugged in? Or was the load of the hoover enough to trip

    Strange (to me) RCD trip

Yesterday I was replacing a socket at home, just a straight swap. Turned mcb off for house sockets and removed existing plate Whilst the plate was off my missus plugged the hoover in to a kitchen socket and it tripped the rcd. Assuming the hoover was faulty I plugged the radio into the same...

    Induction hob on a plug

OK I misunderstood that then. I assumed when you said it can't run all 4 on full power that it was due to it being on a plug hence bring restricted. Thanks for your quick and informative reply

    Induction hob on a plug

That's interesting thanks. So if I wanted to use this thing on full power would I need a 4mm or 6mm cable running to it from its own mcb?

    Induction hob on a plug

Looking at an induction hob to replace our old gas one . The blurb states it's plug and play and apparently comes with a 13a plug supplied. This is the product info http://www.zanussi.co.uk/kitchen/cooking/hobs/induction-hob/zei6840fba/ As it comes with a plug I assume that all will be OK...

Spurs from breaking into ring main

I suspect you're right. So to clarify if on a 32a mcb and all sockets wired in 4mm there should be no problem running these appliances, at the same time if necessary (unlikely)

Spurs from breaking into ring main

All mcb in cu are rcd protected. Thanks for your advice. I'll get her to get someone out to sort it. It's a brand new install done just before she moved in so not sure what the thinking behind it was

Spurs from breaking into ring main

100% it is 4mm. The cable has 2 x 4 + 1.5mm printed on it. I suspected 16a was unsuitable. There is currently a 32a mcb that fed an old shower. Could I get someone out to disconnect the shower cable and put garage cable onto the 32a? What about the fcu?

Spurs from breaking into ring main

I have another question regarding this same house I'll put here rather than starting another thread. She wants to put washing machine and tumble dryer in garage. There will also be a small water heater to give hot water for basin in utility wc. The garage has its own mcb so all seemed fine but...

Spurs from breaking into ring main

There was just one rubber cable connected to a jb under the floor which had broken into the ring along with a spur for another socket. As soon as I touched the rubber cable the outer and inner sheath crumbled leaving the wire exposed. I disconnected it from the jb and made sure it was dead...

Spurs from breaking into ring main

That's really useful thanks. I think in the interest of good practice we'll get the jbs took out and replace with wago or similar.

Spurs from breaking into ring main

Can someone tell me if there is a limit on how many times you can break into a ring main to spur to a new socket using junction boxes. I know you can only spur off a single to a single and a double to a double but unsure when breaking into the cable. I ask this because my sister has just...

Pattress box 15mm spacer / extender

If you cant move the shaver socket up I'd be tempted to make a frame using 15mm softwood edging bead type stuff and paint it white Something like this http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Pine-Stripwood-Moulding-%28PSE%29-15-x-15-x-2400mm/p/121263 Mitre the corners jobs a good in. it's still a bit...
