    thermal imaging inspection firms.........

I have a FLIR P640 TI Camera if you want to have a play. Not sure it would find anything obvious because it sounds like you have changed or upgraded just about everything :) . Ideally it would be good to use in conjunction with a blower door to depressurise the house and exaggerate any leaks...

Could cavity wall insulation be a bad idea if...

To be honest, the outside walls are not in tip top condition. There are some rendering issues and cracks in mortar in places. Also, there has been an open air brick to vent the cavity wall in place for many years. All of this leads me to think that there could well be water or condensation in...

Hi, Thanks for your replies. Tony1851, seems like you are thinking along the same lines as me. My fear is that once the cavity is filled there is no way to reverse it should there be any problems. Think ill try and seek some further advice before taking any action. Regards, Karl.

    Cavity vents

I did the same with my house and blocked them off. I cut a piece of clear perspex to size and used clear silicon to hold it in place. Here is a thermal image from outside showing the cool air circulating in the cavity here is the result of the cool air on the inside wall

Could cavity wall insulation be a bad idea if...

...you possibly have interstitial condensation within the cavity ? I have a 1930's semi and I’m thinking about getting cavity wall insulation. Because of its age, I’m worried that the cavity might have some condensation. If the insulation in the cavity gets wet then you will basically have...

    excessive heat from fluorescent light

Hi, Thanks for your reply. These are the actual temperatures. You cant touch the metal base for more than a second or so. I know its a big unit with a total of 140 watts from the 2 tubes but I didnt know it would be that hot. Its the end where the ballast/transformer units are held thats...

    excessive heat from fluorescent light

Hi, I have recently put a 6 ft. fluorescent light (2 x 70watt) in an upstairs bedroom. It’s screwed through the plaster boards and into the joists. Above the ceiling is the loft space which has fibreglass between the joists and is boarded up so this area can be walked on. After 4 hours I...
