Anyway lads, thanks for that but my touchpad has since ceased to work. Not even listed in device manager :x How can I sort this out. The ribbon cable seems to be ok and firmly seated.

Have checked the cable but it looks ok and is firmly seated. However , the touchpad is not listed in the device manager. Any ideas why that would be ?

Have just changed the DVD/CD drive in Acer Aspire 3023 Laptop. Have put in a Sony drive but when I try and play DVD it is jerky. Why would this be ?

The drive works perfect but having put it all back together , the touchpad doesn't work at all. Any ideas ?

Have now removed the drive from this laptop. Do I need to replace the drive with the same or very similar. I'm told that laptops can be very 'choosy' when replacing with a different model of drive ? Any ideas on this and also where would be the best place to source a replacement ?

I had this same problem. Phone Sky and tell them you want to cancel and why. They will more than likely send out an engineer and swap the box for free to keep your custom. This will save you a £60 engineer call out fee before you start ! The new box will only have a 3 month warranty though.

Potterton Suprima 30 boiler ignites and runs for about 5 mins then goes off. I get a red solid light and a green flashing light but the boiler then does nothing. Could the temp sender be faulty or the overheat stat need replacing ?

Candy 1000 Sprint progresses through the wash cyle but when it comes to the rinse/spin cycle it does nothing. The washer will not spin at all. It will wash then empty then just sit. Any ideas? Checked the brushes but they have plenty on them !

Sometimes the green light will flash and boiler goes off. If you tap the boiler on the side where the pcb is the red light will then come on (but not flashing). I reckon I might just get a Worcester-Bosch combi like my parents. It's doing my head in all this messing about.

No hissing or banging. No I haven't had an upgrade. The boiler was fitted when the house was new in Dec 1997. Nothing has been changed or modified.

Fitted new brushes. Cost me a tenner. Machine works like new. Got the missus off my back at last :D
