Stanley knife fat max piece of rubbish

been using an Out-door utility knife from Stanley. has a large, serrated blade at one end and the quick-change normal stanley blade at the other. Absloutely brilliant! use it all the time at work so i regularly need to change the blades. Takes about 15seconds to swap them out with a press of the...

    Clocks

A thought occurred to me during my morning dump: What happens to train timetables over the hour change period? BST ends at 01:00 so does that mean there are two midnights (0000 - 0100 - 0000)? If so, what happens to the '0003' train? Does it leave twice? or is it just twice as late??! And what...

    Prospective employee cold contacting.

Thanks for all the input, fellers. I really appreciate all your insight & advise. :D I was figuring that with my past work, I could be taken on as something one step up from an apprentice? Is there such a thing? Semi-skilled labourer, perhaps? As Alpcon said, I can do the work reasonably...

    A Revolution

Could possibly be that the quintessentially 'British' trait of well-mannered **** taking out of other races/religions acts as a pressure release thus preventing the high social tensions needed for revolution. Be interesting to see the future implications of the Whitehall PC brigade!

    Prospective employee cold contacting.

Hi. So as not to hijack the thread regarding people contacting businesses in search of a job, I've started this one. I really want to start on a new career path. Been umming and aahing for ages as to which direction to take. I've a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice but can't find...

    fitting spindles

Hey. just finished fitting my new spindles and handrail. As long as you cut the fillets tight to the spindles, you should be ok just pinning/glueing the fillets in place and leave the spindles 'loose'. If the fillets can't move, then neither can the spindles. :D

    What a weekend

 To be fair, I know of a few non-english, uk folks who were rooting for England. Just irks me when 'England' = 'UK'. Guess I'm just a bit of a 'dyed-in-the-wool-petty-minded-nationalist' type! Oh no! I expressed a non-harmonious, potentially inflammatory...

    Rugby

As a Welshman and a SA supporter of oohhh... 90mins or so, I have to say it was a hell of a game! I would not have liked to have been the one to call that disalowed try tho. From the replays at the time, I thought it should have been given. Wonder what the call would have been back in...

    Foreign Objects in Food

Having lunch in Yates' a few weeks ago. Found a nut (hexagonal, metal variety) in the cheese of my mexican grub. Picked it out and showed it to the barman (more with the intent of making him aware that his grill might be about to fall apart than anything). He was really apologetic, refunded both...

    What a weekend

At risk of lighting the proverbial 'blue touchpaper': I didn't realise there was a 'UK' team in the rugby world cup? :?

Should he stay or should he go?

Thanks for all the replies! Having read the first few posts yesterday, I decided to give the lad a chance. Figured I'd tell the boss more about his good points (working) and less about his conversational carpet-bombing. Figured he'd settle down in abit and end up an asset to the...

Should he stay or should he go?

Im an acting manager of a warehouse in N Wales. Just had a new lad start with us. He's about 18, looking for a rent and beer money job. Can't fault the work he does (order picking/packing, tidying etc..) considering he's only been with us a few days. Problem is: He literally will not stop...

What tool do i need to cut 18mm ply???

How come you can't take the ply up to cut it? Are you able to remove the units over the ply? If you did, a circular saw (set to a few mm deeper than the ply) would do the job.

    newbie floor sanding question

Hey Jamie. Welcome to the forum! If the flooring is engineered, and it sounds like it is, you can hire a floor refinishing sander to strip off the old varnish/lacquer as well as most ingrained guck. I've hired one before - great kit, just make sure you buy loads of sanding sheets (60grit -...
