    Selling Cameras 'unfit for purpose'

I've had a Samsung A7 digi camera for a year. Worked fine up until a month agohten: Same prob - new batts in, 'Low Batt' sign comes up straight away and the thing shuts off! Have used rechargeable and non-rechareable batteries with it before, no probs. :? Wondering if it could be some...

    pro bono?

Not really done as a proper job, but I helped my OAP neightbour by rebuilding his fence and re-hanging a couple of internal doors (winter coming on - massive draughts without internal doors). Also did a bit of decorating. Nowt major. Couldn't afford a chippie and had bad arthiritis. He tried...

    Secondary glazing film.

I have fairly large, single glazed windows in my 1930's semi. Couldn't afford double glazing and was fed up of cold air/draughts coming from the glass and frame. Bought 3 packs of the StormGuard, secondary glazing film from B&Q for £9 for the lot. 1hr's work later: nice and warm with no...

I have this image in my head of something like the Death Star off of Starwars. Full to the brim with brown-shirted Mods, monitoring all forums everywhere for the mearest hint of dissention or irrelevancy. Brown-shirted sentinal: "Forgive me, Lord Moderator, but there appears to be talk of...

Airbricks sealed by cavity wall insulation guys.

No. It passes throught the outer brick skin but not the inner. Do you need cross ventilation in brick wall cavities? :?

How to fit Greenhouse Glass or Polycarbonate...

Hey. Off the top of my head, I would hesitate to use your slot cutting method with wood and glass as the wood might expand/contract or warp a bit. This would either crack the glass or at least lock it in place so you couldn't remove it in one piece. Your rebate idea sounds the better of...

    I want a toy router

Yeah, that's the badger. Also called a Forstner bit, or is that something different? As regards cheap routers, I've been using a Performance Power, 1/4" feller from B&Q. Think it was £25 or so and came with 6 bits (straight, chamfer, dovetail and a few others). Not got a particularly powerful...

    40 grit, 1/2 sheet sandpaper

Hey. Looking to sand back my stairs - remove years of varnish and paint. I have taken as much of the varnish off with stripper and a scraper so I'm now left with the in-grained stuff. I've got a 1/2 sheet orbital sander to shift the bulk of the crap but the lowest grit sheet I can find...

Help iv got a crumbly wall

make sure you're going all the way throught the plaster and into the brick. Tap the plugs through the plaster so that they are entirely seated in the brick. The walls in my house have an inch of plaster over the bricks in some places!

Airbricks sealed by cavity wall insulation guys.

Hey. Recently had my wall cavities insulated. Guys did a great job and the house is really warm. Yesterday, I noticed that they'd filled in the airbrick that sits halfway up the wall with silicone or similar. :? Just wondering if this was normal? Would the blown insulation negate the...

    drafty loft hatch

Could try fixing a board (hard board, MDF, thin ply, T&G planking), cut to fit the frame, over the existing door so that the gaps are covered? Stick self adhesive draught strips around the frame above where the door sits in its up-an-closed position to get a snug seal?

    Mac Allister Mitre Saw

I've got a 255mm performance power compound mitre saw from B&Q. From having a poke at the macalister stuff, I got the impression tha there wasn't much between them, build quality wise. Been using mine for a couple of years for hobby carpenty. Does the job nicely. Not quite 100% accurate -...

    Loft insulation

Hey. I had the same thing after insulating my MiL's loft. Wore one of those cheap, paper masks that you get 1000,00000 for £1 or so. Spent the next couple of days with an unbelievably itch nose and a painful chesty cough :( Binned the cheap masks and went for a box of 20 by 3M. Did...

    happy slappers

As the old quandry goes; how much force is reasonable? He justified it by; 'I was the one doing the defending. There was 4 times as many of them as me, so i only hit them 4 times as hard as they hit me!' Old Bill didn't quite see his logic but let it slide as one of them had been...

    happy slappers

Justice! 8) A mate of mine and his girlfriend got set upon by a group of 4 'happy slappers' a few years ago. Think they were about 16 - 17 yrs. Thing is, he was a regional champion at kick boxing as well as other martial arts disciplines! Put one of them in hospital with a broken...

Which Sander for general DIY, Windows, Door frames etc

Whatever you end up going for, stay away from the Black & Decker KA226 'sandstorm'. Piece of poo! used it for 10mins, didn't press hard or anything, and the sanding base plate sheared off!

Ripping 18mm, 8x4 sheet chipboard for loft flooring.

Cheers, folks! So, 18mm T&G flooring is water/damp resistant and stronger than its sheet equivilent? Also less work.... Hmm... sold on T&G flooring then! Thought it might work out cheaper/easier to use sheet but, guess not! Thanks. :D
