Two appliances into one waste and water feed

Hi endecotp, thank you I would not have known that detail. I guess I should look at the whole waste then. Forgive the daft question, but could I just remove the bit of the waste connected to the sink and replace it with the bit from the mcalpine waste that has the two waste bits on it (spigot?)...

Two appliances into one waste and water feed

Hey folks, hope you are having a nice Bank Holiday? Could anyone offer me advice on this before I buy anything please? I attached the hoses for a friend's washing machine a little while back and now she has bought a dishwasher. She asked me to have a look and there are no more inlets or...

    Tyre crazing time to replace?

I read 7-10 years, I know with running two sets of tyres and my mileage I'm likely to reach the age limit before wearing out the tread.

    Tyre crazing time to replace?

Not mega miles 6-7k per year but a lot of it is motorway driving.

    Tyre crazing time to replace?

Hey folks, Hope you are well all having a nice Sunday. I switched my tyres over to the summer ones and I have a pair that are 9 years old so I know they need replacing after one more season. I noticed some crazing, do you folks think I should get them replaced now? There is plenty of tread...

Asbestos flooring tiles - council house

Hi endecotp, Thank you for that. I'm not doubting the qualifications of the presumably competent person who did the report. The concern was the report was from 2015 and there are broken tiles in places.

Asbestos flooring tiles - council house

Thanks tiger, they are confirmed to contain asbestos as my friend was given a copy of an asbestos survey from 2015. She is going to put down flooring but we were both a bit nonplussed about how dismissive she was.

Asbestos flooring tiles - council house

Hey folks, Hoping you lovely people could share a bit of wisdom please? My friend just moved into a council house and there are tiles throughout the downstairs which are confirmed as asbestos. They don't look in great condition (to me) and my friend is concerned. I spoke to the housing...

Are these screws ok for OSB3 on my flatroof?

I didn't use any glue for fixing the firrings, just screws and countersunk the ones where the firrings got thicker. I'm not sure I'd trust glue on its own but I'm only a diyer so one of pros might suggest otherwise.

Are these screws ok for OSB3 on my flatroof?

You'll fix your firrings to the joist first and then the OSB on top so the screws will pass through to the joist at the thinner end. Towards the thicker end make sure the firrings are adequately fixed to the joist where your screws won't reach the joist. Alternatively you could use longer...

loose floorboards on top of pipes

Hi Reg, thanks for the suggestion, I managed to chisel out a bit of a channel and put a glazing packer on each joist. Its not the best but at least its not resting on The pipe and doesn't make noise. I think it may be time for new boards in he new year. Cheers

Are these screws ok for OSB3 on my flatroof?

Hi SS, I've done a couple of flat roofs and used decking screws (for OSB use a length of at least 2.5x the thickness of the board). Those linked are for internal use only.

loose floorboards on top of pipes

Evening all, I lifted up the landing carpet tonight to investigate some loose floorboards that gave been bothering me for forever. I found that 3 pieces of floorboard have no screws or nails in them. Further investigation revealed that they are loose on top of some pipes. The plastic tee...

    Garden room planning queries

Hi DevilDamo, thank you so much for your really helpful and detailed response. I'll give it a bit of thought if planning permission or doing it away from the boundaries is the lesser of two evils. Cheers

    Garden room planning queries

Guys sorry if this has been done to death but I couldn't quite find an answer on google and wondered if anyone here could help please? I'm planning on building a garden room next year, I'd like it to be at least 3 metres wide but my garden is only 6.7 metres wide. As my garden is quite narrow...
