    I agree. I wouldn't want to see a line either. I've been told that a stop bead can be used at bottom. And when rendered later it can still blend in once painted. Is this right?

    Cheers. Can you tell me if I use sand and cement and do the gable end wall part that has just been built for dormer can I do the remainder after 3-4 weeks once the old render is removed without it looking patchy? All will be painted at a later date. Thanks

    Was quoted 9-10 per bag. Need 65. Then you have base coat. So will take 9-10 days labour costing around £3k. Cement probably work out half cost.

    Hi. I have 1930s semi. Want to remove old render as it looks quite poor. I've had printed for k render and it's quite dear. I think its best to go for cement render but read it cracks easily and to use lime render. What would you go for?

    It's only for front frame. Will sit on steel beam which is 6 inches wide. Dormer cheeks are 4x2.

    They are from the original rafters. The wood is solid are full size 3x2s. Was going to use them for internal partitioning.

    Im currently doing dormer conversion. Reduced my first floor ceiling height by about 130mm to 2.3m high. You would have to have house empty as there is a lot of mess. 500mm is quite a bit though.

    I've also used dritherm earthwool insulation. 100mm for cavity. That's what the inspector recommended as its cheaper than kingspan and does the same job

    Just about over it now. Maybe it's for the best. Though it's hard to believe builder with 20 years experience can make such a school boy error! I still have around 10cm above head after finishing. So maybe not as bad as initially anticipated.
