    Finishing lvt at external door

Recently moved to a new build & had quick step lvt installed. The external door in utility room has metal on bottom of frame which gets a lot of condensation. The flooring fitters had put hardwood beading against door frame but it was continuously soaked so I got them to remove it. Water had got...

    Condensation at front door

Thanks Ken, We only moved in last month and have been making a snagging list so I'll definitely add it to the list and hopefully the builder will come up with something. There is another external door in utility room and funnily enough condensation appears on metal at base of door frame there...

    Condensation at front door

Hi, we've just moved to a new build bungalow and at the inside of the front door is a metal or aluminium part of the door frame at the bottom by the threshold which continually drips with condensation. There is a gap between the metal and the wooden threshold put in by flooring co to finish off...

Wind driven rain getting under dry ridge

My dad lives along the street in a house built by same builder. He says he sometimes has the same problem when the rain is wind driven. Is this a common complaint or do you reckon I should be getting a roofer in to investigate?

Wind driven rain getting under dry ridge

Hi John and Woody, thanks for your replies. I've attached a few pics of the ridge underside (all the same section). It's one of these mechanically fitted ridges so I don't think there's any mortar involved (correct me if I'm wrong). 142094/94289_21447921.jpg[/net] The last...

Wind driven rain getting under dry ridge

Hi, was in loft this afternoon after heavy rain/windy conditions and noticed a few drops of water lying on loft floor directly beneath dry ridge. Just wondering if this is common/ok to leave as I found water lying a few months ago (further along loft but again under dry ridge). When light is off...

Strange brown/orange stains on integrated garage ceiling

Just a wee update in case anyone else has same problem. Found a wall paper brush in garage, attached to long pole and tried brushing ceiling - found the stains just brushed off - sore arms now but clean ceiling! Whether they return or not remains to be seen!

Strange brown/orange stains on integrated garage ceiling

Thanks again John, there might be something in that timber idea as my dad was storing a load of different types of wood and pallets in the garage to make us a shed last year. Also we store potatoes and onions over the winter that we've grown. Thanks for your help. Emma.

Strange brown/orange stains on integrated garage ceiling

Thanks john, the ceiling is really high (was going to attach a paint roller to a long pole to paint it originally) but could try to somehow attach a sponge to it. How many parts bleach to water would you suggest? And I take it that it would be best to try to remove mould before painting? I've...

Strange brown/orange stains on integrated garage ceiling

Hi, my house is 13 years old and I have a double integrated garage (walls/ceilings were plaster boarded and painted by builders rather than left as concrete block). I noticed today that the ceiling is covered in faint small brown/orange circular stains/marks all over (more concentrated in...

Rainwater getting into garage via side wall

Thanks for all your suggestions. I've just finished siliconing the gap at the bottom of the metal part so I'm hoping this will stop the problem. Fingers crossed.
