I noticed today wasps entering and leaving the soffit of my house. I had a good look around the loft but couldn't find any wasps or nests - I couldn't see the area above the soffit as it was too awkward to access. Wasps don't bother me in general so I'm wondering if it's ok to leave them or is...

Ah so maybe he is talking sense after all ha ha. So there's a chance of movement if they're just attached to the battens?

Thanks cdbe - can't understand why he would want to put more plasterboard up. He said something about you can't attach the cladding to the battens but every video I've seen online suggests otherwise!

Thanks. Our friend suggested upgrading to an inline fan as well to help with the moisture issues

We are thinking of getting our bathroom ceiling lowered by 6 inches (we have coving above our tiles that needs removed as the paint continuously peels off) and pvc cladding put up. We have a friend who is a retired bathroom fitter who advised he would put battens up then a layer of plasterboard...

Wee update - bit the bullet & scraped out old silicone & resealed today (took me hours!) Used my best buy of late - a fugee kit which I can't recommend highly enough. What a great finish it gives. Ignore the messy sink - full of old silicone. Thanks for all the advice. Much appreciated.

Sorry - meant the brackets you posted (your 2nd picture). Look a lot easier than ones that need a hole drilled

I saw these on Amazon today - they look really good. No idea why installers don't use them in the 1st place. Is there a particular glue you would recommend to stick them on with?

Is that something a plumber could do now ie drill holes to fit the bolts (it's a silestone quartz worktop) or would it be too tricky?

I wonder if it was maybe done that way to keep it out of view? So I'm guessing if I redo it I should fill it more to the edge.

That's unreal. Touch wood not had a problem over last 3 years. Did you have to use clips to fix them?

I know what you mean - it's just gone very mouldy as it's an awkward area for catching water/food etc

Hi John, there's no support underneath at all but there is adhesive bulging out from the underneath of the sink edge where it's glued to the worktop.

Thanks - yes I was thinking of the cartridge gun which would be awkward so that's a good shout.

It was formerly white as certain parts are still white in colour so guessing it is silicone

Hi, the silicone on my undermount kitchen sink is 3 years old and is black from mould. No leaks but wondering if it should be replaced. I've tried cleaning it with bleach & with vinegar but nothing seems to shift it. It's a stainless steel sink & wondering if the whole sink would need to come...

It certainly is! Wish I'd said to the builders not to put coving in the bathrooms. Hindsights a wonderful thing! Thanks for all your help

Thanks John, just a pain how it starts peeling again every few days. I've just been sanding down the peeled bits then reapplying peel stop & then the perma white paint. Not sure if that's for the best or not.
