It was fitted by the plumber so don't have a receipt for the actual immersion etc. So does this type of thermostat have to be replaced like for like or otherwise replace the whole immersion?

Thanks for this. Whats confusing me though is that this thermal cut out does not seem to be integral to the thermostat. It is mounted on top of a brass "lump" next to it with the wiring going through it. Does this make any difference to changing the thermostat to one of a different make to the...

No - For the Ohms range it has RX10 and RX1K

Could you explain in a bit more detail please - I have not used it before. The Ohms dial has a range of settings - which one do I use and what to I put the red and black probes against on the solenoid? I have put a new battery in the Multimeter.

Have done exactly as you instructed but no water flowed when I turned the supply back onto the shower. As per the instruction book also tried turning the temp dial clockwise and anti clockwise a few times.

Just found the black connector - It was taped to the tool for removing the centre part of the spray head.
