Size of cable for 12KW electric boiler

I agree John, this is something I have trying to avoid for a long time. One day my back boiler will break down, and since they do not make them anymore I am stuck; I cannot install a conventional combi boiler as I am not allowed to drill through external walls (the flat is in a listed building) :(

Size of cable for 12KW electric boiler

In a few years' time I am thinking about upgrading an old back boiler to an electric boiler (due to flue restriction as this is the listed building, therefore I won't be able to use gas anymore). I would like to know the size of the cable I require for a 12KW boiler (Gold Potterton -...

    32mm vs 25mm MDPE query.

Thanks, I am aware than 32mm will help maximise flow of cold water in my property (which is mainly in 22mm coper). My main query is regarding the flow of the hot water coming from the combi boiler, as it is 15mm at that point. Would 32mm MDPE also help maximising the flow of hot water in my case?

    32mm vs 25mm MDPE query.

Hi all, I am going to replace the lead pipe coming from the street to my home (Scottish Water will be doing the connection). I have most of the details from Scottish Water though I have a few questions regarding MDPE as I am mainly familiar with 22mm and 15mm piping. My questions are: 1) I...

EDN Velux flashing (recessed) installed on sarking (Scotland)

Thanks all, I will add a piece of timber between the joist underneath this part of the flashing, this will provide some support in case someone steps on it.

EDN Velux flashing (recessed) installed on sarking (Scotland)

The manual for the EDN Velux flashing is showing the following but it is mainly for a batten installation used in England. In Scotland most slated roof make use of sarking. My question is regarding the bottom of the Velux, according to the diagram I need to leave a 140mm gap for the flashing...

Advice to install heavy bath tap to wall.

Thanks for all the tips @oldbutnotdead , I think that instead of cutting the tiles in situ, I will just remove them (they will likely break) and try to replace them with the best match, otherwise it might just be too messy. Regarding the pipework, I intend fixing the pipes to the wall.

Advice to install heavy bath tap to wall.

I cannot get to the other side, there is a 40 cm wide wall made of stone and then another terraced house.

Advice to install heavy bath tap to wall.

Hi all, I need to install the following bath tap to the wall: Below is a photo of the 1/2 BSP connector at the back of the tap: I am intending on cutting a channel in the tiles for each of the 15mm water pipe (using my angle grinder and a diamond blade) and then connect the above...

Reverse circulation in 2 zones installation

Problem all fixed after using option 2 in my original post, never expected reverse circulation but learned a new thing.

Reverse circulation in 2 zones installation

Well I came through many diagrams showing this kind of set-up and obviously I wrongly thought it was acceptable. Note that this is my own installation in my own house, not being a plumber I just wanted reassurance that the diagnosis I made in my original post was correct, thanks for confirming this.

Reverse circulation in 2 zones installation

Pretty hot actually, the hot water definitely comes from the return pipe. The flow pipe on zone 1 valve is not getting hot; this would suggest the diagnosis I made in my original post is correct.

Reverse circulation in 2 zones installation

No HW cylinder as this is a combi boiler but thanks for flagging it, useful to know.

Reverse circulation in 2 zones installation

Thanks guys, since it is not a long run I will extend the return pipe for zone 2 all the way back to the boiler, I did not think about the possibility of the non-return valve getting jammed.

2 Google Nest Thermostats for 2 zones connected to Intergas Rapid 32kw

I should have added that the jumper wire between terminals 6 and 7 of connector x4 (installed by default) needs to be removed.

Reverse circulation in 2 zones installation

I created an central heating installation with 2 zones as shown in the diagram below. Zone 1 is for the ground floor while zone 2 is for the first floor. The return pipe from zone 2 merges with the one from zone 1 through a tee when reaching the ground floor. The issue I have is when I...

2 Google Nest Thermostats for 2 zones connected to Intergas Rapid 32kw

For completeness, the Intergas Rapid 32 boiler needs to be set to "C-ON". The best wiring and explanations I found for a combi with 2 zones are from John Ward at https://www.flameport.com/electric/central_heating/combi_boiler_2_zones_230V.cs4, just need to connect the brown wires to terminal 2...

2 Google Nest Thermostats for 2 zones connected to Intergas Rapid 32kw

Brilliant Andrew, thanks a lot! PS: regarding the pump inside the combi boiler, do terminal 7 & 8 really need to be connected to Live and Neutral? Sorry for the silly question, but if I do so I assume the pump will be constantly turned on, shall this actually be Switch Live on terminal 7?

I added the terminal # of the boiler (in red) on the diagram below, is this what you mean?
