    More plastering woes

Did he apply 50/50 pva glue/water on the wall before skimming? The cracked/blown area looks like none was applied or not enough was applied therefor the wall underneath sucked up all the moisture and it is coming loose. If just one area is popping off you need to pull off as much that will...

yeah was thinking to just do that as the edge will be protected by the larger tiles. I ordered some plastic beading so will see how I get along with it first.

Need solution for rusting wire corner bead under plaster above kitchen sink?

not sure if I answered my own question :D but I think this must have been stainless steel corner bead, so I guess solution would be to use aluminium or plastic bead? Also... Do I even need beading if this corner will be covered in tiles? Does beading sit above the bonding layer and under the...

Need solution for rusting wire corner bead under plaster above kitchen sink?

Hey all, So I've been removing the small mosaic tiles around the sink area down to the bare plaster. I noticed the corner bead above the sink (where the wall meets the window ledge) has quite a bit of rust in areas, probably due to sink water splashing or wet objects placed on the window ledge...

    Plastering old cavity wall. Holes?

Hey all, just bringing this up for another question. The render that has broken off from the wall (due to smashing the tiles off) is pretty chunky. Do you think screwing in sheets of plasterboard to it to bulk it up could work? Then bond over that?

Tidying up very old cut off electrical cables?

Screwing it off would be ideal! Though not sure how to go about gripping it with the stilsons as its so tightly wedged into the corner. I think I will need to turn off all power via circuit breaker and dig out that crap job of white filler to see what that wire is part of. I doubt its anything...

Tidying up very old cut off electrical cables?

Yeah the gas pipe there is a big concern. I was thinking of putting a wood panel there to shield it, screw it into the floor. The videos I've seen with oscillator cutters show they get through the pipe fairly quick. Just wondering peoples experience using them?

Tidying up very old cut off electrical cables?

I think these were the old electrical connections before the flat had a major re-wiring. The fact it is exposed and there is no current going through them makes me thing they have been severed completely from the other end. Also there are some severed electrical pipe housing under the stairs in...

Tidying up very old cut off electrical cables?

Hello all, I'm renovating the kitchen and want to tidy up the mess that is the meter area which will be seen often inside the cupboard. Just wondering about these old cut off cables to the left in the big black tube. They look switched off so would it be safe to assume I could just cut them...

Need help with using laminate flooring in Kitchen

Hello all, I'm thinking of taking up the vinyl tiles in my kitchen and putting down laminate wood tongue groove flooring. Though have a few questions.. Under the vinyl flooring is some thin plywood nailed into the floorboards. Should I put the laminate flooring directly on top of that or would...

    Plastering old cavity wall. Holes?

Belfast sink brackets! Yes that must be it! thanks. Will plaster over these then. I'm on a bit of a budget so just making do with the shoddy pipework for now and plastering what I can behind it. Though taking off all the pipes would be ideal.

Brown cardboard stuff stuck to floorboards?

Another thing to add is if I use the steamer will it be ok on the wooden tongue groove floorboards? There might be an electrical wire running under (though that's all insulated.)
