Explorer History - unable to delete

You're spot on to suspect unidentified addresses. Some sites piggy back spyware so you wouldn't know that they've installed themselves. I think there's a freebie called Spoof-stick. It's worthwhile d'loading that and running it. To make sure that you've cleared all Temp Internet files, go to...

    Building a website? I haven't a clue

Thanks for the helpful replies, unfortunately, I've tried mixing html script (that I've pinched from a couple of sites; right click, view source) with Web Page Maker and it doesn't work, or at least I can't get it to work. I'm going to take a bus ride to Liverpool Community College tomorrow and...

    Building a website? I haven't a clue

Yes John, they are too big (I've reduced the images to 72dpi in the new folder) as soon as I gather together enough pages, I'll repost and the loading speed will improve.

    Building a website? I haven't a clue

I just tested the domain address and for some reason it cannot be opened. It was operating alright this afternoon so I can't explain the failure. I apologise for that. Please don't let that discourage an offer to help. Thanks

    Building a website? I haven't a clue

A long story shortened. I belong to an association for retired Merchant Seafarers and during the years of travel we all made many friends who have been lost through migration and the dissolution of the British merchant fleet. For this reason I have been given the difficult task of creating a...

    Adapter & amps

Just when you need something, it goes POP!! I have a flatbed scanner that up 'til today served me well, but the adapter for it has gone down so it leaves me without a working scanner. I've searched the house for one that will do as a temporary replacement but all I can find that comes near it...

my photos to pcfrom dvd camcorder

I think it's important that you say what Operating System you are using. Do you have Windows 2000 or is that the minimum that the cam needs? I've transferred from a Digital cam to PC using a Firewire with Pinnacle 8 and Windows XP without any problems and I'm no expert. USB1.1 would take an age...

Is this a spoof or not (Crafty & Adam_151 probably neede

Is this a genuine test or something a little sinister. Just as a precaution, make sure you haven't entered into a costly contract. If you some of you entered a personal mobile number you could regret it. Because as I read it, it states that the first call is free but thereafter it will run you...

    What Broadband?

Hi all, I'm thinking of changing my ISP from Wanadoo to Talk Talk. I'm sure many of you are saying "there's nothing to think about. Just do it"! Well I'm a little apprehensive. I don't want to lose contacts that I have built up e.g. eBay, inksuppliers, Bank acc. etc. with Wanadoo, because they...

Puma 80e: Water dripping from Auto bleed vent.

Hi, I've hit a problem! The unmistakeable sound of something dripping certainly wakes you up from a deep slumber, well it did me! I have a Potterton Puma 80e and it's about 11 years old. I've had good uninterrupted service from it for the past twelve months, but today it has started leaking...

    Formatting & loading OS problem

Igorian go to the top of the class. I swapped CD drives and the OS is loading and going through the installation process. My next task is to find the drivers for the chipsets and onboard Audio/Video. I did make a note of them so I shouldn't have too much of a problem. Thanks again Tony

    Formatting & loading OS problem

Well Olly, Thanks for having a go at resolving the problem, but the answer to question is; No, I didn't take the 'start up disk' out of the drive. I would have done that when I was about to install Win 98. Igorian, 1st, The jumper is set to slave 2nd, I'm sure the data ribbon is OK, because...

    Formatting & loading OS problem

Things went OK part of the way. Formatting went OK and I got a C:\ prompt but I don't know what command to key in to transfer the drivers, other than the E: or setup and they don't activate anything. I haven't seen an install prog included with the d'loaded files. Thanks, Tony

    Formatting & loading OS problem

Alas, that didn't work. I inserted the floppy and put the Win 98SE in the tray but the system booted up with the 'Start Computer with CD-ROM Support' menu. There weren't any options such as Install. It does persist in telling me that ATAPI CD-ROM Device Driver 'MSCD001' no drives found...

    Formatting & loading OS problem

Thanks for the reply Igorian, it looks like you've nailed the problem. I see a warning saying; 'OEMCD0001; No valid CD-ROM drivers were found. I went to the site that you advised and d'loaded the boot disk, but that didn't work, I followed the instructions but I kept on getting the 'Insert...
