Just when you need something, it goes POP!!

I have a flatbed scanner that up 'til today served me well, but the adapter for it has gone down so it leaves me without a working scanner. I've searched the house for one that will do as a temporary replacement but all I can find that comes near it has a slightly lower voltage and a higher amperage.

I need: 12V 1.25amp
I have: 11.23 300mA . . . it's a universal adapter

My request for info is; will it knacker my scanner if I try to run it with the higher amp value adapter
Thanks for all help

no it wont do.

you can use a higher rated one but yours isnt.

300 mA is less than 1.25Amps your current one is (no punn intended)

FYI 1,000 mA = 1A

300mA is 0.3 amps

;)

You wont kill the scanner, but the adaptor might go bang.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The only other one I have is
12V . . . 1000mA. and that won't do either?

What a bummer!

Thanks again

Yup, IT kit often uses the more high-powered wall-warts, this is why most "universal" power supplies state on them "not for IT equipment or laptops"

No, it won't do!

1000mA (1A) is still < 1.25A.

Plus, is the connection plug the right way round in terms of polarity?

most universal trannys have an adjustment, either a switch on the wallwart or a reversible nodule on the end of the wire that flips the polarity.
