OSB or plasterboard for garage ceiling

There are 4 x soffit vents along the front of the garage. The cold air just pours into the garage. Plus we had some roofing work done and the leading edge is now breathable membrane instead of the heavy felt and the garage just seems so much colder. The ceiling would hopefully isolate the cold air.

OSB or plasterboard for garage ceiling

I’m planning to construct a ceiling in our integral garage as it’s feeezing. It is a pitched roof. The bedroom above has pink PB installed by the builders from new. It’s the pitched part that is open and needs addressing. As there’s no room above does it need to be fire retardant PB or can I use...

Ledger board straddling gas pipe and cable

Thanks for the quick reply. I was leaning towards it being one length but not sure if “notching” like this is an accepted practice/solution.

Ledger board straddling gas pipe and cable

I’m planning to construct a ceiling in the garage. I’ll be attaching a ledger plate with concrete screws or resin bolts to use joist hangers. The board has to “straddle” the gas pipe and electrical cable/conduit. It will be where the red line is marked in the photo. Can I notch the timber in 2...

Point taken thanks and I do plan on doing this moving forwards however for the existing 3 posts is a degree of flex at the top normal and would horizontal noggins provide any more stability?

Fence posts and slatted screen advice

I’ve erected an above fence screen using 75mm x 75mm posts which are 1.92m above ground with 50cm in postcrete. The panel is double slatted from Wickes and has been cut in half to provide more privacy along the length of the fence. They are fixed to the faces of the posts. My wife now wants this...

Best colour caulk anthracite unit + white wall

Looking for some advice on best colour to use for caulking between anthracite panel and white wall? I’ve previously used white caulk but not convinced it looks great. Unfortunately the edges of the filler panel are chipped slightly but I can touch in with anthracite colour. I’m thinking of maybe...

    Skirting board gaps..is this acceptable

Yeah I noticed thanks. I had already prepared the wall like that and made sure there was no excess plaster or plasterboard etc. Is it best practice to use mitre setting spray prior to fixing? I planned on using a grab adhesive for fixing the skirting to wall.

    Skirting board gaps..is this acceptable

Cheers for that. The gap is only a problem at the top. I was just finding it hard to visualise whether or not it would look ok before I cracked on and fixed it.

    Skirting board gaps..is this acceptable

I’m after some advice about fitting skirting boards. I made a start today in the kitchen but soon realised either the wall or flooring or both are not straight. I need to have a 5mm gap at one end near the external mitre so it looks true with the floor tiles. Will this look ok when...

Will these isolation valves be ok for a few weeks?

Yes the arrows are pointing upwards. You’ve got me a litre concerned now about covering the ends.

Will these isolation valves be ok for a few weeks?

I’ve removed the sink from downstairs cloakroom as we are getting new flooring and a new vanity unit and sink installed over the next few weeks. I’m now thinking maybe these isolation valves may not be ok left like this?? If they were going to leak it fail in some way surely they would have by now??
