Arcing sound from plug socket switch

It does not really normally matter whether you use SP (single pole) or DP (double pole). But in theory DP would be safer. I use BG or click normally. But MK, Crabtree etc.. are fine.

Replacing 12v bathroom fan with 240v one.

Yes a suitable 230V/240V extractor fan can be installed in zone 1. The fan must be IP rated at at least IPX4 and be suitable for the environment, read the MI of product prior to purchase. If the fan is exposed to water jets then the degree of protection must increase to at least IPX5. The...

Locating fault in a house full of craft junk?

If you know the layout of the circuit. I would split ring at board and test as a radial, ideally find highest continuity reading at socket outlets, then split there again and work back towards board, hopefully given only one leg to concentrate on.

Bosch Double oven - Conduit question

Never come across supplied conduit, so unsure about that, even though the MI seems suggest flexible conduit is supplied. Anyway it will be perfectly OK to use heat resistant flex, that has a suitable CSA for the demand.

What is a reasonable price for a new boiler

There are a few models of combi boilers manufactured by intergas, so that would have baring on price. So which one has been quoted for? Other things to consider when relocating boilers are as follows: Flue positioning, condensate outlet, electrical supply and the flow and return routing to the...

    Plasterboard size

I personally would only use 3m boards if the ceiling height was higher than the standard 2.4m. If you are taping jointing, you really need the tapered edge going vertically, if you board long edge way then you will have square edges butted up on the vertical line. With regards to ceilings, would...

Kitchen - Spur from Fused Socket?

The property is managed by a letting agency, which I maintain the electrics for. The F/F fuse has not blown since my intervention, which would now be approximately 18 months. As far as the reason for fuse blowing originally, I suppose it was just one of them things, that can never really be...

Kitchen - Spur from Fused Socket?

John, I have no idea why the fuse blew, it was a rented dwelling and tenant said the fridge just stop working. With regards to refitting the F/F, the F/F also had an AWT S/FCU, so just replaced the socket plate with flex plate, chopped plug off and fitted MF connectors.

Kitchen - Spur from Fused Socket?

Yes the fuse had blown and the F/F was rammed with thawing products. The customer only noticed because pools of water appearing on the floor. Food removed and F/F removed from housing, then refitted. Delightful job just to swap a fuse. Not a big fan of socket outlet in nearby units, but...

Been blamed for scratched window, how do i handle this?

If you didn't scratch them. Just stand firm and tell him that you did not scratch them and have no tools/equipment that would cause those scratches. I would go around though and inspect the damage and any other damage that exists, also take pictures of your own. Whether you consider still doing...
