Kitchen - Spur from Fused Socket?

Well that is an illogical idea if true, surely it would have been more appropriate to have the fuse in an easily accessible location.

Kitchen - Spur from Fused Socket?

You can spur from the dishwasher socket, but the socket will be controlled by the fuse connection unit that isolates the dishwasher. As FCU will only allow for a 13A load in total, that is what you will be restricted to downstream of the FCU. It would be wiser to extend the circuit from the...

FCU v socket without a fuse

Very likely an isolator switch, which are often rated at 45A or 20A, and that is the current rating of the switch/isolator, not a fuse rating, as they are unfused at the accessory but fused at the distribution board. So if your microwave has a 13A plug and there is a standard 13A socket outlet...

    Reconnecting hallway light switch.

@McGraw It defiantly needs looking at. There seems to be some anomalies present. So get someone in that is in the know, it is in your best interest. It is difficult to say via pictures what cables are doing, a little testing is required using proper test equipment and by a person that...

    Reconnecting hallway light switch.

However did the job for you should ideally be asked back. Without proper testing, it would be guesswork to say what cable did what. But on the evidence shown on picture, if one of the switch gangs is working and the second is not, I would ASSUME, that the loose cable would go in to L1 or L2 of...

    Leaking shower?

Well depends if it was done well or not? Also do not rule out the trap, they often show no signs of leak until wait is on the tray. So just evacuating water down it, can not always show the signs. As they can then leak when someone is stood on them, that also applies to seals around tray and screen.

New CU and failed IR tests

From what the homeowner has said it seems not. Well I suppose it could, but I don't really know. But the other strange thing is, a second socket circuit has also been excluded of RCD, but the test result on EIC, seem to suggest they are fine with regards to IR tests, reading at 89MΩ and 299MΩ...

New CU and failed IR tests

Interesting comments guys, and in the main I agree with most of the comments. When I am asked to replace an existing DB/CU I always I&T first, even when doing a full rewire, I will do some primary test on the supply. So when there is an issue, then advise/recommendations can be offered to the...

Toilet fault - overflowing on filling

Looks like it is going into overflow, so either a faulty inlet/float mechanism or the float needs adjusting to a lower position.

    One pipe central heating system

They only have one pipe, that acts as the flow/return. So one long pipe from heating source to each heating panel in a chain, through rad valves, then back to heating source.
