    i have these on my house, would agree with noseall the brick either side of the lintol is about an inch thick and the lintol is behind this. i took one out of my house when i built my extension and they are bloody heavy and are hard to drill in to when fixing blinds and poles.

    with the onset of winter it would prob be best to go for a rebuild, as it sounds like it has reached the end of its life. what is the overall condition of it ? you might be able to get it rendered which is a cheaper option if it is not to bad.

    just imagine a triangle the same width and height as your opening, that is all that is carried by the arch. it is how a standard lintol above a door works, take it away all that falls down is the triangle above

    if the opening is 63cm that is about 3 bricks wide if layed lenght ways. your arch is enough to carry what is above.

    it should be fine, if the opening is say 4 bricks wide the amount of bricks placing weight on the arch is 10. 4 then 3 then 2 then 1 in a triangle, the rest of the weight would be transfered to the cheeks .

    did you use the correct adhesive and grout? was it a 2 part mix powder and liquid or just powder and add water, this could be your prob

    well they have sorted it, tried a new pcb but still no joy so i said what a couple of you guys had said about the sensor and hey presto boiler working fine at last. can let the wife have her heating back on now thanks for all the advice. :lol:

    sounds like you have some movement in your building , get a structural engineer involved, he will monitor the building for movement over a set period of time and decide what course of action to take

    i used them before and got charged £156 fee it turned out to be a rubber seal not costing a lot, so at least i am getting my money's worth this time

    lol i think you are right there ,the first guy looked at it for 5 mins then asked what was wrong , i explained the prob ,he looked on his laptop then called someone else on the phone . so got more time off tomorrow while they come and play about with it
