    GU10 downlighters 120'c cable??

Well, Screwfix are trying to find out what I need to do, but I don't hold out any hope. Also LAP are a cheapo of cheap street imported light, so no chance of speaking to manufacturer... Plenty of people have fitted these and said how easy they are to wire up, so I'm guessing that they...

    GU10 downlighters 120'c cable??

So come to wire my downlighters last night and the instructions contradict them self... They state a 260mm min void required and a 140mm minimum clearance above thge lamp holder. BUT the lamp holder is only 90mm high, so makes 230mm in my book (my ceiling is 230mm!!!) Also it states to use...

    Render volumes for 2.7sqm walls

Thanks. What's the blisteirng caused by? I'm imagining bubbles between the scratch coat and float coat where its not adhered properly?? Is this what you mean? And I presume by shavin gyou mean to flatten off a buldge in the finish coat caused by the bubble/bliser in the float coat?? Or...

    Render volumes for 2.7sqm walls

Yeah, I know...did briefly consider refitting the window but the wife would have killed me if i'd have started to do that as well! Now I have to say I have a small problem... Got the hardwall scratch coat up on two walls reasonably flat ready for th float coat...so much easier to put up...

    Render volumes for 2.7sqm walls

10 points to you both!! The window is WAY out of plumb...tips a long way out at the top! It's also not level, or straight..the frame is bowed quite considerably...all in all, not the best fitted window...and no, I didn't do it ;-) The beading is bang on both elevations... Glad you guys...

    DHW pipe sizing

Unvented cylinder has 22mm inlet control group. The outlet on my unvented cylinder is 3/4 bsp to 22mm copper or looks like 28mm copmpression fits straight on...the balanced cold is 22mm compression... However, if i've got lots of bends and T's to get to the various outlets, is it worth me...

    Rewiring and building control

But then who WOULD you have signing?? The bloke who lives on on the estate with more tattoos than Jodie Marsh, killer dogs n the back garden and never worked a day in his life isnl;t really going to thin twice about signing (if he can write) a false application... On the otehr hand there are...

    Rewiring and building control

You telling me that you couldn't get in a bus with someone showing you how the controls work and drive off? I'm sure you could... My point is that it's not a highly skilled highly trained job...it's a glorified delivery driver. Sorry to any bus drivers out there...look at the number of...

    Rewiring and building control

Then he'll not be a Pilot, he'd be a bus driver or a mni-cab driver... I'm qualified to fit unvented hot water cylinders...doesn;t make me a professional plumber though...I'm still an IT bod...

    Cost of plastering/finishing a room?

As has been said...need more info, but to give you an idea for my 3.3x3.3m room, plaster off to brick and lathe and plaster ceiling down to be replaced, rendering/plastering materials so far have come in at about 150quid...my walls were VERY bad - bricks were far from flat, so needed much more...

    Render volumes for 2.7sqm walls

here's the larger wall...3.3m long and 2.7 high with window...this was before rubbing up this morning... you can see the floating fig 8's on the wall on the left (that's the alcove wall)...basically take a 3.3x3.3 bedroom and chop it into 1m and 2.3m rooms with one alcove in one room and...

wavy lines and fig 8s scratch and finish only in 12.5kg bags

Thanks. Damp is coming in from soil stacked against one wall and a hole in the wall doesn't help :-) the other wall from a tree branch that had punched a hole in the wall...both cured now! Checked the gypsum site...you can get 25kg bags of multi and board finish, but only 12.5kg of 'finish'...

Plastering, where smooth wall meets previously tiled wall

It CAN be done (I've done it as a first time plastering amature in my old house) BUT I'm guessing that any time spent in trying to match the level of the existing plaster and feather in would cost more than just skimming the whole wall...or even two walls, the cost is going to be getting the...

wavy lines and fig 8s scratch and finish only in 12.5kg bags

Four quick (possibly daft) questions... 1) Why is the scratch coat finished in horizintal wavy lines, but the float coat finished in shallow figure of 8s...is it more to do with diffrentiating between the two so somone doesn't inadvertantly skim a scratch coat? Also some of the pics I've...
