    Rechargeable Ni-Cads

I've had a cheapo cordless drill for about five years (occasional use) and the two batteries are now about done, and won't really take a charge. If anyone knows any tricks to revitalise them I'm all ears as the drill is in good nick. To buy replacement batteries would be about the same as I...

Pilot keep going off once every month(kingfisher2)

It was going out every week, Tony applied some TLC and it was ok for a couple of months, then it started going off every month, and now between the 6th of January and the 12th of January it has started to go off every Thursday. Then on the 13th of January the tale is recounted with the monthly...

    Van security

Don't for a minute think the police are remotely interesed in this kind of crime....you are the nuisance for wasting their time by reporting it. I was doing a job four stories up, residential street -not busy or quiet, heard a smash, looked out the window to see a head and shoulders in my van...

    double insulated light fitting

Can anyone tell me if there is a supplier's website which details if light fitting are class 1 or 2, ie if they need an earth. I'm looking for a replacement light fitting for a kitchen where no earth is available, and I need something other than a simple pendant. Also anyone know if there is...

bs 3036 rewirable fuse duty rating

my 2003 copy does not show any reference to the short circuit capacity on these tables or graphs. am I missing something? fig3.2B does not have any reference to 5, 15, or 30a fusing. would it not be the housing/holder of the fusewire that would need to be rated for the fault current? if so...

He said he had to reset it.....not the same as switched off Tony..........it has to lock out first

    Modena 80E

As far as I know Tony the fan, aps or venturi would not cause a lock out, it just sits in position. LED 2 on (red) = failed to ignite or overheating. At 7 years old do not go near venturi, it will disintigrate with the focus of your vision, in fact even thinking about it may have caused it...

    older cable

Can anyone give me an idea of the age of a cable in a lighting circuit with no earth (presumably pre 1967?) looks like aluminium 3 strands totalling 1.29mm2 with rubber insulation, then covered in fabric, then encased in lead.

    Concentric Flue & Wind

The area of the inner and outer section are very similar, the outer part is the inlet, the inner part is the outlet. If the boiler fan is not running the wind forces against the inlet and outlet equally, so there is no actual flow of wind through the boiler (unless there is a leaking seal on...

    Ferroli APS

You might find a spare venturi handy, I'm surprised it's not broken yet, they are almost like an anti handling device. I seem to remember the APS on these is adjustable, so if after cleaning the fan, tubes and venturi, if it still fails you could try a small tweak. I'm puzzled as to how it...
