    War against damp, whats next?

I don't think that there is any water running down now, I think the green staining is from before the roof was fixed.

    War against damp, whats next?

There is a small coalhouse on the back of my house I want to use as a utility room but first I need to prevent it getting so wet inside. I have tried adding an airbrick and just done the roof because felt and tiles were damaged. I still get damp on the walls which I think can only be...

    Just spotted damp problem.

Bed was against the wall. Guests staying for the first time in this room. (More water vapour from then and extra showers). Not noticed it before and not really any marks on the wall paper to suggest this has happened in the past. We do get a lot of condensation on the windows so this is...

    Replacing felt and laths

I still have to trim the membrane, at the moment it sticks out under the undercloak. I presume I should of cut it off to finish under the cloak because now it will be a pathway for water? What should I do now? Just cut it as close as I can and maybe skim over with mortar?

    Just spotted damp problem.

Whats the chance that water is getting in through the edge of the roof and sitting on the DPC?

    Just spotted damp problem.

Just found this in the spare bedroom: This is outside: Its my understanding that there is an original DPC which is the black line and then there has been something injected as well. The black DPC seems to be at about the same level as the top of the skirting board. I did...

    Replacing felt and laths

    Replacing felt and laths

Just read those articles and want to make sure I have this correct. I am going to slide the undercloak under the battens so that their is 50mm of baton on the cloak. I will trim my underlay so that it finishes under the cloak. Mortar goes on top (6:1) of the cloaks for 50mm, there is...

    Replacing felt and laths

Right, Im off to get an angle grinder. Is it ok using cement in this weather? Its sleeting here now, will it still go off? I have been told to nail a board down the edges where I am cementing the tiles on, is this correct? Mick

    Installing 8kw Cooker

There is a cooker control switch in the wall, is it safe to assume that it will be 23A or can I find out? Whats diversity? Is it safe to assume the old cable is ok or should I replace it? I dont think the consumer unit has MCB's or RCD's, its pretty old and will get someone to change...
