the laptop is an old advent 6522 celeron 1300 laptop it was not bad for celeron it just ran flat out all time and kept my partners legs and lap nice warm :lol:

tested hard drive ? it will boot op so i take it tits ok and when i boot from cd it doesnt get as far as checking hard drive for installing windows .Have you rested the RAM to make sure that an installation will work? sorry but what does this mean would it effect my problem of not booting...

so softus please do tell us all how to fix the real problem i would love to know
