That looks excellent and a brilliant idea. I live in St Neots and I see you're in "Cambridgeshire" so any chance I can put my car over it to do some work on the suspension?
For that amount of nailing I'd buy a secondhand Paslode IM65 off ebay and then sell it on when finished.
A few for sale for not a huge amount of money and how much can you lose by buying and selling...
Had the same problem earlier this year and sorry to say didn't solve it. Daughter in law wanted liverpool red tiles 30x10 size and red's a really difficult colour to get.
Just about every tile supplier I visited did the same, sucked their teeth and said not available. And I visited/called at...
Well it's slowly disappearing but the SWMBO still won't let me touch her with my "dirty" hands!! Result there then.
Ended up nicking a pair of blue latex gloves and doing my presentation wearing them. Made a joke about the glue and how I nearly had to turn up stuck to a garage door and it got...
Built a very nice up and over garage door 8ft wide out of Western red cedar over the last few days and I'm really happy with it. Just got the accompanying fence to do then I'll post some pics.
Built the door frame out of 75 x 75 uprights and the rest out of 75 x 50 framing all half lapped...
Just started building a new garage door and fence using some very nice Western Red Cedar T&G and for some odd reason happened to read through the instruction book for my Paslode IM65 nail gun.
And it says in their FAQ's do not use galvanised nails with cedar.
Anyone know why? What will...
Thanks for that sort of what I thought though I'm leaning towards thinking that if it's all firmly held together the chances of it warping might be less? Not sure though.
Regarding price, went to three timber merchants near where I live (St Neots, Cambs) and they all said they don't keep it...
Yes joinerjohn, you're right an end panel's the easiest way to do it assuming he's got the room to fit one.
And Wren have them avaialable, though no prices quoted.

By far the best solution. It's actually called a Dutchman. Cut out a section of veneeer from a side not seen and using a sharp craft knife, cut out the damaged area and let the Dutrchman in...
Ordered a load of Western Red Cedar last Friday to build a new up and over garage door and a 3 metre fence alongside. £550 quid's worth. Gulp. The idea is that the two look just like a fence and hence no-one, least of all the local council, know that I've got another garage. I've currently got a...
Since you've already been in contact with the supplier over this issue, why not get them to give you a price to come and cut it. But you want ot done tomorrow. Not in 6 months time.
And if they won't do that get them to e-mail you detailed instructions as to how to cut it and what crimp etc...
Thanks for that Dazb, I'll give them a call in the morning, being Bank Holiday I guess they won't be there today. I'll let you know what I find out.
And only about 25 miles from me.
Good find that man. Again, thanks
I've got a double garage at the side of my house and ten years or so ago built a workshop extension on the side with a pair of wooden opening doors that look just like the adjoining fence. I didnlt get planning permission so made it blend in so no-one knows it's there. In fact from the outside...
