Low Voltage Downlighters in Sloping Ceiling

If it is anything like my sloping ceiling there will be insufficient space above the the downlighters for heat dispersion to be effective. The risk therefore will be the overheating of the lamps and potential risk of combustion!

    cable problem

Get a registered Sparks in to assess the situation and see if a new cable can be run without having to rip out the wall covering. For example can it be accessed from the opposite side of the wall? Personally I prefer a mixer shower with no electrical involvement except for, maybe, a shower...

Outside Lighting - Not Security Lights

We are about to get some outside (wall mounted) lights wired up but wish for the cables to be as unobtrusive as possible. Any suggestion as to the best cabling to ask the Sparks to use? Recognise he will have his own preferences but would like some pointers in advance.

Last year 8 people were killed as a result of people operating disabled scooters (6.5 more than through dodgy electrical work:-) and a 1,000 more suffered serious injury. I suggest a person with red flag walking before all users of these scooters :D

Including me who, though I trained as an electrician, am now banned from all but the simplest task. Mind the NICEIC is not alone as many local Building Officers woould have you believe...

knackered old hinge screws just melt under the screwdriver

Tom is perfectly correct - dipping will cause all sorts of problems. My late wife used to buy furniture to do up and always had it stripped. Colour was usually ruined and bits were left behind in the caustic soda vats. That reminds me they still have a couple of panes of rare glass from an...
