Just converted the garage in to a kitchen/diner measuring 5.5M x 6M and was wondering how many down lighters I might need? The kitchen area takes up 5.5M x 2.4M and the dining area occupies the rest which is 5.5M x 3.6M. I already have 3 5A plug-in light points for the dining area but...

I've got a bag of wickes one coat kicking around, coulI use that as the bonding coat then perhaps pva that the next day then finish with multi finish?

Afternoon all I've just plastered a bricked up doorway and the whole lot crazed within 1/2 hr! The opening was bricked up using Celcon blocks and 1/2 hour before I plastered I brushed a coat of diluted pva over the area but the blocks still sucked all the moisure out of the plaster...

Handynan Sorry, can you explain? This is what i've got......... I've removed a load bearing wall and replaced with a steel (the joists have been cut and now they rest on a flange welded to the steel. This flange protrudes into the room slightly hence the need to lower the ceiling...

Just off to get my timber for the cross battening, decided to go for 38mm x 47mm if that's ok? Any idea's on correct spacing? I'll be using sheets of 1.2M x 2.4M so would 600mm centres be adequate? Thanks in advance again :roll:

Thanks for your reply noseall. When you say I have a grasp on it do you mean that's exactly how I should go about it or do you have a better idea? I have a roll of 100mm dpc and a large piece of dpm, could I utilise one or both of these to solve the issue or do I need to go to the expense...

Some advice please! I am having a set of folding doors fitted 5M width. The builders have positioned the steel etc and we agreed that to keep costs down I would sort out the cavity threshold detail. The folding door chap has now been round and said that the dpc will need to be dropped...

Evening all My garage doorway has just been in-filled with brickwork (West Hoathleys). I have bought some Santex exterior masonry paint, the question is how long should I leave the brickwork before painting and do I need to seal beforehand with something or use a watered down coat first...
