    cross batten roof joists

Hi I want to increase the level of loft insulation from 100mm to 250mm. My joist are only 100mm high. I don't want to loose the timber as I need some of the space for light storage. I've read on this site that I should cross batten the roof with a timber of 200 to 225 mm x 35 or 50mm...

where to fit an automatic air vent

Hi I should have done this first, but I've just called Worcester Bosh technical. They agree with yourself not to fit an automatic air valve as the boiler will go into purge mode upon starting and vent all air in the system through its own self contained vent, inside the boiler. Sorry...

where to fit an automatic air vent

Hi Thanks for further help. Yes you are right in what you said "If your boiler is GC number 47-311-71 (ie. a WB GREENSTAR 30CDi Conventional) I think YOU'll find that the 'air vent' referred to on page 10 of the manual you probably looked at is a pipe, not a valve!! " This is true but...

where to fit an automatic air vent

I think you'll find that a forum is designed to reach many people and discuss the matter objectively. To get many answers and opinions e.g. the fact that the suppliers states one thing and you give another opinion. Who's to say that the first answer given is not posted by a person who...

where to fit an automatic air vent

Thanks again for the tip. I suppose the answer that we finally came to was .... 1) You don't need to fit an automatic air vent, whilst changing your pipes around as this air intake problem will be resolved by the combined vent & cold intake pipe! The idea of this forum is to share...

Gentlemen I appreciate the comments and tips but I've just been on the Worcester bosh 30CDI boiler instruction web page and it shows a Automatic air vent at the highest point, in an open vented system. I do plan to change the vent pipe to a combined Vent and cold water fill, to remedy the...

where to fit an automatic air vent

Hi I want to fit an automatic air vent to my central heating system as it does not have one at the high point. I've seen loads of products that look like a small bottle that screws into the system. I've read on one product installation guide that it cannot remove air from the system, when...

Thanks for the tip. I've spoken with a carpenter and he said the same thing. I'll give it a go tomorrow. I suppose the worse thing to happen will be a big pile of doors all hacked to pieces on the drive! Thanks Rob

    What door to fit

Hi All I'm having a nightmare trying to sort out a door for my lounge. Since the addition of real wood flooring it has reduced the height of the hole significantly. I need a 6 panel door that is either 75" in height or one that I can cut, saw or plane down to size. I'm so confused as B&Q...

Hi All The vent is the 22mm pipe that T's into the top of the horizontal pipe, above the pump and on the left hand side of the picture. The cold feed is the 15mm pipe that T's into the bottom of horizontal pipe, after the vent and before the pump. Thanks Rob

This is a photo of the layout. On the left is the boiler. This is all in a small cupboad so fitting an aerjec is going to be really difficult. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11764523@N05/?saved=1
