    Any tips for routing?

big_all was correct. This is an internal cut for a sink so it should be cut clockwise. Someone jumped to conclusions before reading the question.

    Joints

Any joint could be called a joinery joint as opposed to just screwing or nailing 2 bits of wood together. Knowing the shape of the item would help know what type of joint is needed. Drawing the item then scanning it and putting the image here would help.

    Tree Stumps

Stump killer is a weedkiller that is mixed with paraffin and poured into holes drilled down into the stumps. The stumps eventually rot. It's the same kind of chemical that the Americans used in Vietnam which was known as 'agent orange'. It's a carcinogen so not recommended for use like it...

    Miracle weedkiller

Glyphosate is a systemic weedkiller that travels from the leaves to the roots but is neutralised on contact with the ground. Pathclear is a simazine weedkiller that is used for paths because it doesn't leach sideways and stops seeds from germinating for 6 months. For weeds in a garden I...

    patchy lawn from dog pee

That reminds me of a former girlfriend. Her name was Sue and she bought a shih-tzue as a pet. When I used to visit I would look at the dog and say loudly " You're a shih-tzue" which could be taken both ways. :D

Where can I get 20mm MDF?

The only way I know to get 20mm MDF is to laminate 8mm & 12mm boards together.

UK MDF 20mm supplier, and other help needed

MDF comes in standard thicknesses and 20mm isn't among them. You'd have to laminate 12mm & 8mm together to produce 20mm I had heck of a job trying to find some 1" plywood as it's only made in metric sizes now and 25mm was too thin. I was lucky because my timber supplier had a small piece of...

    Twisted Seat

It looks to me as if someone has been sitting on the red cushion end with their weight on the sides. Get them to sit on the light cushion end in future and it may move the timber back to its original shape.

    skirting around a curved wall

A kerf is the width of a saw blade. Kerf cuts are a series of saw cuts part way through at the rear of the wood to enable the wood to be bent. Soaking the wood before bending is necessary to prevent the face breaking when it is bent to shape. You still have to be careful especially if trying...

    Egg on Car

Anything on paintwork will leave a mark which will always come back. 30 years ago when I was in South Africa I was told a story by one of the people at the main Ford dealers. At Christmas they had used shaving foam on a Mk3 Cortina bonnet saying 'Merry Christmas' They later washed it off and...

    Fitting skirting to plasterboard

It sounds as if the plasterboard was fixed with the dot and dab method. I'd use screws into plasterboard plugs where the plaster is still sound. I've never bothered with trying to hide screws in skirting as they are so low few would notice and are often covered by furniture. All y skirting was...

    Wood joints

A scarf joint is used to join 2 lengths of timber together. It's generally done with both pieces with a long shallow angle so they are glued all along the length. They can also be made with a slight zigzag in the middle of the joint to stop one from slipping down the other. This is how old...

    Twisted Seat

It looks to me as if it has warped because the floor wasnt horizontal. It can also have moved that way if someone always sat at one end leaning against the end pieces. Apart from that it looks a nice seat.

    skirting around a curved wall

I'd be more inclined to make kerf cuts fairly close together where it is to bend and also soak the wood in water so it wont break when bending. Then allow to dry in its position before joining at the ends because it will shrink as it dries so making it a fraction longer than needed might be a...

    Fushia bush/plant

Most fuchsias are not hardy so need to be in a greenhouse in the winter but yours is apparently one of the hardy varieties. If you take some cuttings you could pinch out all the side growth on one and allow it to spread once it's at a reasonable height. This is how you train them as standards...

    staining a colour advice

I always used to use an oil based dye but found a water based dye to be better. I then finish with a couple of coats of Danish Oil. I used to use varnish but wont use it anymore. Wood is alive and oil keeps it that way.

    Wasps around swimming pool

When I was a kid we always made wasp traps. A jam jar with nail holes punched in the top with some jam in the jar. The wasps went in but the barbs from the nail holes stopped them getting out. Put it where you wanted to entice the wasps to. Problem solved.
