No i would say polyplumbs original overlay system is well worth thinking about , I'v fitted as retro option and it works fine, Does work different to having the pipes in a traditional screed system, it warm's up quicker but cools down quicker. Not a cheap option but well worth it in my opinion.

i'v fit customers own products bought from there and not impressed, fit a bath with cube style mixer tap from there 3 weeks ago, taps on back ledge, bath was flimsy so siliconed it to wall as well to stiffen wall edge up, turned water on and all fine, hrs later noticed taps leaking on joints...

If you chose to change it the rear heating section is just under £100 . if there is good acess to left side of boiler its about an hrs job to change. I guess your changing due to only warm water at the taps. If so .If you close the heating return valve under the boiler when you require hot water...

I always use a little neutral cure silicone on washer, never leaks , always comes out easy and if its vented who wants to drink that anyway, even unvented lay gunge in the bottom after a while :-(.

I think ya best option would be to fit a thermal store . solid fuel into it, combi into it, heating out of it , mains fed dhw via its coil :-)

is the (main ) tank as you call it it overflowing into small tank it could just be the main tank ballvalve is set too high or dripping not leaving enough room for the expansion of the cylinder as its heated.

If u have reasonable water mains pressure have u considered a replacement mains fed stainless cylinder. no pumps required at all. very quiet to run & no large f/e cistern in loft.
