My friends air bag light stays on all the time, Its just been in for service and mot but they couldn't sort it, any clues

well if it isnt a clock spring that needs replacing,then if may require a trip to the dealers to run a diagnostic on the car,
it may just need reseting,or see if theres a box of tricks under the passenger seat,gentle wiggle any wires to see if there loose.

Some fault code readers will be able to interogate the airbag system such as the Snapon ones with the different keys, your local independant garage may have one.
Bog standard readers can't interrogate it.
The wiring loom under the seats are prime suspects, take advice from your garage before working on the airbag system which usually means disconnecting the battery and waiting for a time before working on anything to do with airbags.
