The wax capsule is in the centre of the thermosta side of the shower it has to be completely stripped down to get at. Would it be easier to fit a new valve or even better get an installer to fit a better quality valve to fit & forget . Aqualisa or mirs valve will give years of good service.

That is an old timeswitch but it might be ya system that has to work that way .it depends if its gravity hot water or fully pumped. as for not witching off if must be knackered so replace it asap. maybe a Drayton tempus 7 or an ACL LP 722 depends what control u want .24hrs or 7 days different.

It a case of pennys to heaven rather than from. the biggest draw back with rads is even if you can heat it u dont want to be heating it it all the time the heatings on. consider fitting a zone valve with a stat or timer or programable stat to avoid heating times u may not use the room.

Ug pipe in its nature is for under ground. it is not suitable for sunlight just as is blue mdpe pipe isnt. above ground inside it may be ok but id check with building control 1st as i wont risk it . UG is UG so is it worth the risk.

I'm sorry to say that the istallation may have a design fault compiled with low quality products ending in poor performance ,but thats only an opinion with out visual backing. The supply piework to the pump & from the pump to the valve must always prevent air from collecting.
