    Boiler tripping on overheat

A timed relay connected to the pump will perhaps solve your issue. From reading your tests it sounds like the pump overrun does not cut in quick enough. Are you saying once the demand is switched off the pump is stopping, boiler trips but then the pump overrun starts but this is too late as the...

Deciding on a non-mains gas central heating system

Yes furthermore to the reply the thermaflow is set with programmers set to take advantage of any off peak tarriffs that you can get from your supplier. Think the current flavour of the month is economy ten where you get 3x off peak periods per day. The stored water will then be ready to heat...

Deciding on a non-mains gas central heating system

Hi, A freind of mine has a thermaflow combination electric boiler. Worked well if Gas not an option. As it stands they have changed it out as they have mains Gas. They are looking to sell it on :D also located in Essex will send you a message.

New shower installed, reduce flow/energy use

All, Just installing a new shower in a property where I pay all the bills. Currently has 3 ensuite showers, 2 fed from unvented cylinder 1, electric 9kw. Removing the electric due to unreliabilty and running costs. The electric shower is delivering 3.5Lpm new shower will be way above this...

    Fluidmaster brass shank too long

I install using flexi's. Very handy if the toilet needs to be pulled out for unblocking purposes etc. Just buy a longish one and install in a looped fashion

    Unvented Cylinder

I have inspected inside a megaflo that was over ten years old from an extremely hard water area and the coil still had shiney metal apparent and yes no sacrificial anode.

Reliability and running costs of the ElectraMate 2000?

+1 corgigrouch, but to the OP be aware I dont think the energy suppliers are obliged to keep the economy 10 tariff running forever. You caould find you sign up for something then they can remove the deal depending on the wording of the contract. If sized correctly and used correctly then it...

Reliability and running costs of the ElectraMate 2000?

right this is simple. 1kwh or elecricity is the same energy as 1kwh of gas, given the same efficiency levels (ie when converted to heat). It stands to reason if the price per kwh of electricity is around 3x the price of gas then there lies your answer.

    Unvented Cylinder

What service would have stopped a weld being compromised or whatever else caused this leak, that is not very good after sales at all. Much depends on how you approach these companies however some are very frosty to start with.

    Where's my slow leak?

top up system to 1.5 bar and see if that helps find the leak. Also check pressure release valve is not letting by (ballon over end of pipe to catch anything might be good). If nothing obvious then I would be isolating each rad in turn for a day making sure both ends are shut right down. This...

Honeywell 3 port resistor wire wound resistor rating

All, Anyone got a Honeywell head they could check the resistance of the wire wound resistor? The marking on it does not give a clue to the actual resistance. I have one here that the resistor has gone open circuit and would like to repair it. Resistor is Dale CW-2b that is available in...

    British Gas Hive Active Heating

Only trouble is that at this moment in time it does not support TPi control or smart start. Apparently some guys are working on this though.

Potterton Profile 50e switches on then off again

If it is the overrun stat you can get round this by wiring in a timer relay (to the pump. That way you do not need to open the casing. I have done this on my boiler and never had a single trip since. When the burner switches off do you hear the pump continue to run? Can probably simulate the...

    Pipework for Vaillant 418 Ecotec

Surely he cannot pipe it up wrong it is simple. What status display do you get when it shuts down? You sure the gate valves are opened up on the pump. How many MV (motorised valves have you got). Maybe these are wired incorrectly. Has the bleed and purge program been run? Come to think of...

For Seco? time to throw in the towel Aqualisa Aquastream

Here is the inside of the control set, there are 4 o rings on there, the one I have moved down the shaft has gone U/S so reckon this is an easy fix. Really surprised Aqualisa dont supply these o'rings as part of a service kit. Only thing left to try and source are the brushes.
