    planning a flight of stairs....

The intention is to make the stairs compliant, and the floor strong enough to be compliant, but the room will never be described (by us in our life-time) as "compliant" or "habitable" after all a "non-compliant" staircase will cost exactly the same as any staircase. Due to my "hobby"...

    planning a flight of stairs....

Thanks noseall and tony  As I said above this is an old chaps dream hobby room, one that will be still accessible when I get really old. We have 4 bedrooms and there are only 2 of us (and occasional guests) so it will NOT be a habitable room whilst we are alive. However if you do...

    Laying vinyl planks over laminate

Click-together LVT flooring is relatively new to the market. It is a product I always longed for when I was in business......... It is (I understand) a floating floor product just as is your current flooring. So.......... Yes providing your existing floor is flat and smooth go for it...

I suspect (indeed know) you will struggle....... striped carpet has a pattern repeat.......... Once you determine how wide you wish your runner to be you have to add at least the pattern repeat to the width of your donor piece of carpet, I always allowed 1.5 times the pattern repeat when...

    Removing bitumen floor

Before you even consider removing it you need to know what it is and why it was put there............. As you have only just moved in perhaps you could ask the previous owner, either via your solicitor (which may cost you money) or a very polite enquiry to the estate agent you bought it off...

Do I need to put in a new DPM?

I have just retired from a lifetime in flooring retailing. So over 40 years of experience is how I know I reckon from the info given so far (which could be wrong) I am right. And yes Marley IS the generic name anyone I have worked with gives these tiles. And bitumen was the glue/adhesive used...
