that sounds worrying! did you get the builders on recommendation? If the cement mortar was like that the day after then I'd stop the work and get a second opinion from another reputable builder or get advice from the CAB ASAP. If they've messed up the mortar I don't think they'll have...

yup.. The crud is on the old gate valve. the green deposits are also on the shaft with the handle on.. not sure if was a slow leak on the old one.

I just replaced a valve from the hot water tank to the taps. The old valve is a gate valve, fitted about 20 years ago. the inside is coated with green crud.. presumably from the copper corrosion. Is there any way of avoiding the same fate for the ball lever valve I put in? or any other...

I've a gas pipe that was fitted through the external wall of the house. the plumber fitted a 50mm plastic waste pipe through the wall and cemented it in... then fitted the gas pipe through it.. then taped up the gap between the gas pipe and the plastic pipe it runs through using duc tape.. 2...
