Hello all,

I'm going to fit carpet myself but not sure if I should paint first then fit the carpet, or the other way around?

a few years ago i got the carpet fitters in, after i'd painted the skirtingboard and doors etc..they then scratched and scuffed the skirtingboards id just painted.

was this because i shouldve waited till they fitted carpet, or were they crap fitters?

Carpet last, always, let the fitters know the skirting’s are newly painted and they should take extra care. It’s a right PITA painting skirting’s once the carpet is down. Just gotta be careful. Out of interest why are you fitting the carpet?

had builders in re-fitting plasterboard and plastering.. took the carpet up so it wouldnt get damaged

If using gloss on skirts make sure is fully dry before carpet goes in.
You dont want fluff on your nice new paint.
