thanks rico there are no valves on bottom of cylinder or pipework coming down from loft, there is a coper pipe 22mm i think coming from halfway up the cylinder and thats the only valve in the entire cupboard, is this normal ???? thanks mate

the cylinder is in the airing cupboard ustairs i assume it's indirect as there is heating in the house... there is no valve from the cylinder at all to isolate the hot water that's why i shut down the main stopcock and drain the whole cylinder, but whwn i try and refill the system that is when...

i am tring to change all the washers on my taps, the Problem i'm having is that there is no isolation valve to turn the hot water off so i have to drain down the hot water tank, when i fill it up it gets full of air and little or no hot water from the hot taps.... is there an easier way to drain...

Want to drain down my combi boiler and noticed there is a drain cock at the side of the boiler, is this for the upstairs rads as i thought you had to drain off at the lowest point ????

mick i am actually very compitent, maybe not in this field but i have managed to build, renovate and develop over 40 properties, just would like to tackle this task myself and fact finding as much as i can before i have a go... i'm sure you didn't learn your trade in a day.

Hi tried that as well didn't make a huge difference, i went a stage further and shut off every rad except for 1 at a time, the only 1 that got really hot was the rad without the TRV. the system is an unvented one, where i have a large storage tank in upstairs cupboard and combi boiler...

think where i'm getting confused is that with the old feed and expansion system you stopped water getting into the system by isolating the header tank. how do you stop water getting into this systwm if you are not isolting anything ???? thanks
