It was a faulty RCD!

YES I DID PUSH IT RIGHT DOWN BEFORE PUSHING IT BACK UP.

the rcd wont reset with the mcbs on or off including the main switch.... i only changed a few socket fronts which ive checked and cant see any visible problems. there is someone going to the house tomorrow to test the circiuts. why wouldnt the rcd reset without any load on it???

what info did you want off the rcd? it a 63amp, 30 mA MK rcd, the switch is already down as far as it goes, it just wont stay up when i switch it.... i put the circuit on without it going through the rcd and it didnt trip the mcb?????

cant really remember the details on the rcd, ill be going back to the house on sunday ill have a closer look then. hopefully its just the rcd that is faulty.....

i was thinking maybe the rcd needs to be energised to be reset?????

if i plug a martindale in the sockets wont this tell me the type of fault on that socket?

i did try resetting it with the main switch off but it still didnt reset? i will take the sockets off ive changed and check the cables.

hi, i was changing some socket fronts in a living then noticed that the RCD side of the split load fuse board had tripped when i got to changing the ones in the kitchen.... i tried resetting the rcd but it wouldnt, i then swithced all the mcbs off and tried the rcd by itself it still wouldnt...

i'm thinking of extending a kitchen by either removing a wall or moving it over... is there a way of telling if it is a supporting wall?

am i right in saying that when you are wiring 2 2way switches and an intermediate switch in singles you take the feed to the first 2way switch then a pair of strappers to the intermediate switch then a pair of strappers away to the the last 2way switch? at the last 2way switch you will also have...

What anti virus and firewall are you using ? norton anti virus not sure what a firewall is...... Does it turn straight back on ? it will turn back on but wont load up if i turn it straight back on after it has just cut out, but it will load up if i leave it a while 15 20 mins.... Does...

it doesn't shut down it just switches off! if i turn it straight back on it wont load up but if i leave it a while then turn it back on it loads up ok???????

It is ok (using 20mm conduit) to come back entry through a wall to a switch then tube up and away for the lights leaving the feed at the switch but taking the neutral straight up to the lights???????

if you were to use contactors for a warehouse with lots of lights for example, how would it be wired?????

could somebody explain why contactors are sometimes used for switching lights pls????
