"THE Wall" is done...now the bit in the middle nee

The 2.1m radius would leave a 30cm border which I thought would look ok with gravel around it. I'm thinking about concreting it because if I do that and it looks ok, then it's a winner. If it doesn't look good I can then find some relatively thin slabs in either stone or slate and bed them on to...

Circular concrete patio- anyone laid one?

Planning to put down a 2.1m radius(4.2m dia) 100mm thick slab of concrete in the garden as it's the only permanent workable solution I can see to my patio needs(if it looks awful could slab over it). Should I put reinforcing in it? Will it be ok as a monolithic slab or should I put joints in...

"THE Wall" is done...now the bit in the middle nee

So after slogging away I finally finished it....but my master plan to put down terram and grey chips in the middle and all around the house has been scuppered... now the OH DEFINITELY wants a "proper" decked area....this will be either: A- a circular concrete slab 4.2m radius 100mm thick...

Recommend Saw Horse for Chainsawing Logs?

These things just look a hassle to use- got to put the log on it, presumably cut it from both ends to keep it balanced(steel toecaps a must for logs falling from this height), then what happens when you get to the last section? Easier working on the ground from one end to the other....!

Recommend Saw Horse for Chainsawing Logs?

Better with an old pallet with wide spacings put the log/branch on that and cut in the same direction as the slats, don't hit anything you shouldn't...

How would you finish this wall?

Aye- that's why I thought it was steep as hell- my neighbour had some crushed pink granite delivered by them when we moved in and for 8T delivered he was charged £17 a tonne! The bloke said it was because it was schist blasted out from the Monad"liath"(grey) rather than the pink which is more...

How would you finish this wall?

Cheers for the offer but it's probably impracticable. I'm down Strathspey, our local quarry is 2.2 miles from the house so if the worst comes to the worst I'll take the trailer there and pay for what I need to finish it. I registered on the Inverness Freecycle group too- got an offer of some...

How would you finish this wall?

Thought I'd update this, cos the winter has been non existent I started the job on Friday and have again run out of material halfway up. A neighbour was over though, he has 30 decent boulders (some with decent faces, some totally unsuitable but will make ok coping stones) which I got today...

Where is the water coming from

I doubt any of you could point correctly to Scotland on a map anyway. Yes you do have a much denser population in every sense...

Is it the end for the Pirate Bay?

I downloaded a PDF of 17th Edition...turned out it was American. I'd fitted the new CU and shower by then anyway...all that Imperial stuff would have just got me confused....feet/yards/inches/fathoms/110v/2pin plugs/leagues/miles(?!)/gallons and pints I'm quite good at/different colors...

    Oh dear Oh dear

Interesting stuff. Conventional religion and science think they have all the answers when they clearly don't, and anyone who dares to look out from their "box" and go for a paradigm shift in beliefs is usually ostracised and met with derision and career suicide, and there's plenty of...
