    Main Supply Transformer Fuse

Thanks for the warning and I would never touch DNO equipment. I resent the accusation. I am just interested in how it all works - is that not allowed? I'm quite sure you have lots of interests which 'are no concern of yours' but you still like to know how things work. Never mind... it's...

    Main Supply Transformer Fuse

I'm looking for some general information on the main supply transformer to our property. The transformer is pole mounted which is fed from the overhead lines. Our underground supply then comes off the transformer. I assume these transformers must have some sort of fuse? Does anybody know how...

    Repairing Cracked Garage Floor

Thanks again. I'll give it a try myself and see how it goes.

    Repairing Cracked Garage Floor

Thanks for the reply. As it is a workshop, is using something like Ardex K301 not suitable? There is no visible damp on the floor or walls at present so I'm not too concerned about having a new DPM. I just want an easy and cost effective solution to a walkable, reasonably robust and flat...

    Repairing Cracked Garage Floor

My single garage has a badly cracked concrete floor which has subsided slightly. I want to use the garage as a workshop rather than for car storage and would like to level the floor and paint it,if necessary. I've read the excellent guides on this thread at the top but wonder if anyone can...

Help with old undergound supply cable

Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware of this type of supply cable. The cable has writing embossed on the outer sheath. I think it says 600/1000v but will double check. Looks like I need to get an electrician to have a proper look before panicking that I need a new cable! Thanks for the...

    New Style External NTE

Thanks for the reply. I assume the best option for me is to simply use the old style of Master Socket then and connect up the existing cable myself? I just thought the new style NTEs where a great idea and it would have been handy to fit one of these externally.

Help with old undergound supply cable

Cutout is rated at 100AMPS. I haven't had the total load calculated yet but the house will have a normal load distribution except for the fitting of a ground source heat pump which I understand has a large current draw.

Help with old undergound supply cable

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm unsure if the cable coming through my site is my responsibility - that's one of the problems! I'm not sure who put the cable in but it was the first electricity supply the cottage had. I have excavated around part of the underground cable beneath the...

Help with old undergound supply cable

Hi All, Hopefully someone can advise on the best course of action regarding an old underground armoured cable. I'm in the process of a knock down and rebuild. The old cottage has an underground armoured cable which comes from an overhead line in a neighbouring field. This was installed...

    New Style External NTE

Hi All, In the process of a knock down and rebuild. The old property has an underground armoured cable coming from the junction box on the verge outside to a small external junction box on the wall of the house. This then connects directly to a standard BT Master Socket. What I'd like to...

New Telephone Extension to Existing Supply

O.K. guys calm down! I appreciate the replies but there's no need to argue!! Anyway I now know what cable to use - whether I go for one or two cables  However as I'm leaving a pull rope in each duct I bury, I think one cable is sufficient as I can pull another through if anything...
