If starting from scratch what lighting would you get?

The vaulted neon lighting, this is what i had hoped to do in our bathroom. Ive seen it done before in the hallway of a house modernised in the 1950's, dont know what lights he origionaly used but it had flourescent tubes fitted when i saw it. Looked good.

    hardstanding drains

Wasnt sure where to put this, so can the mods please move it if they know a better section. I want to have a hardstanding on the front of our house. The front is small though, big enough for a car, but not much else. The hardstanding will also have small retaining walls on 3 sides (kurb being...

What are your three top films

Mad Max (just the first one), love this film, can watch it over and over. Clockwork Orange, just brilliant in every way. Zatoichi, a great film, recomended to anyone who likes japanese films. And, im going to add a sneaky fourth. Oldboy, very good and quite unusual.

Old roof tiles and flat bay window roof

Ok, thanks. As for the flat roof, what can be done? When we were working on a tower block, where the concrete slab floors extended out for the balconies, we had to isulate the slabs to stop cold traveling into the rooms. They were insulated with 1.5" marmox boards (foam with a thin cement...

Old roof tiles and flat bay window roof

I wondered if anyone could give me a little general advice. We are about to buy our first house. Its a semi and was built about 1950. It had a gable end, concrete tile roof. Surveyor said there doesnt seem to be any issues in its structure or with the tiles. All the other houses around...

    Tiles Falling off wall

Just to be clear, the only seal im talking about is from the tile surface to the top of the bath. A non tanked room, tiled and sealed properly will be resistant enough for splashes from the bath, and if done well, the shower too. It obviously isnt good enough for any mid or long term...

    Tiles Falling off wall

Depends on how it was done. Did you see him do it? Bath should have been filled with water, then sealed, and he should have told you to leave the water in there at least overnight, if not 24 hours. If they finished the job, sealed the bath, then left, and the bath was empty then i would...

    Tiles Falling off wall

Brick and plaster wall should be fine, but will still blow the tiles off if the bath seal goes and water gets in.

    Tiles Falling off wall

Ohh yes, the seal can go easily. How was it sealed? Bath trim seal? (there crap) Silicone bead? Silicone is the best way but its got to be a good quality silicone, its got to be completely dry and dust free, and the bath has to be full of water when its applied. Otherwise, empty...

    Tiles Falling off wall

Sounds to me like the seal etween the bath and the tiles has gone, water will get in and seep up behind the tiles blowing off the rows of tiles directly above the bath. I'd say at least 60% of bathrooms ive re-tiled have had this problem. How is/was the bath sealed to the wall?

    Tattoos

No, just the traditional cut of points for a female 3/4 body suit. I took the photo from google search, but previously found it many years ago on a website documenting japans traditional hand done tatoo history.

cutting tiles around a quadrant shower tray

Not sure i'd want to tile under it, whats the floor made of? As for cutting, should be pretty easy, a hand held grinder with a diamond wheel will cut them fine. Will make alot of dust. You could also cut them straight and use nibblers to make the curve, just as neat with practice...

    Grout failing in Shower! Help!

I cant comment about why the grount cracked, or what you should re-grout with as i dont know your room or walls etc. What i can advise a bit on is removing grout. Its a horrible job, i avoid it at all costs. I used to charge the same to re-grout a shower as i would have to re-tile it...

Im assuming this is in reference to laser surgery? The NHS will only get involved if a psychiatrist (appologies in advance if thats spent wrong  ) believes the tatoo is causing you mental anguish. Otherwise you have to go private. Its expensive, very expensive, and painfull, very...

Fair play, there not for everyone. Thats the base line of the situation. Some people like them, some dont. Some people may even actively dislike them, or maybe even feel threatened by them due to their previous history. Thats all part of life and the communities we create. However...

I think from your posts its quite obvious where your level is. Does it make you feel better, trying to belittle other people? Do you have some deep rooted inferiority complex that you need to supress by trying to make yourself feel bigger/better than others? I have no idea why you feel...

No, simply a way of trying to get across the point that even though im tattoo'd, and therefore in some narrow minded, blinkered peoples views 'stupid', i am not. You may not dream of bragging, but you dont seem to be above a quick personal insult do you? I guess you use put downs to other...
